1 Are any of these comics "collectable"? on Mon Nov 02, 2009 7:22 pm

First off, sorry for the long list I am going to give you.

I was into comics years ago. I stopped buying to buy more toys but recently got back into comics (GL, Batman, Walking Dead). Well I was cleaning up and found a bin full of comics from years ago and am wondering if any are "collectable". They are not worth hundreds of dollars sort of collectable im sure but hopefully not bargin bin comics now.

So i'm seeing if anyone can give me an idea on my list. Either a general idea on the value (good, bad, worth something, not)or if there are any comics in the list that pop out as especially good.

Thanks

Well, technically, they're all collectable. But if you're asking if they're worth moolah, then, still, ya, to an extent.

Most Wizard #1/2 will always be more than cover price, but also, below $10, I find.
Powers and Rising Stars can be sought after, but I'm not too sure if they are worth a whole lot. I can find them for cheap, and I'm not a know-it-all.
I'm giving an unofficial price-tag, by the by. I mean, Ebay-junkies will pay what they pay, if you get what I mean. Get a rough idea of the prices by looking at online comicshops, and then put a price on it that you consider fair. Which could be 50% increase if the comics grade is solid.

The one thing that I'm clueless on, because I can't find it in stock at any of my shops, is that last one you listed with X-Files. Not saying it is worth a lot because of it, just saying that it is in demand from fans, and could be worth something.

the convention issues and exclusives are generally worth more because they are shortprinted. None are gonna make u much money off that list though.

Everything is collectible, just have to wait for the market to want it, might not be until 2050 but at some point every comic is worth something, might not be what you think though.

Unless it's Silver or Golden Age stuff most shops aren't interested outside of a few isolated issues, if you want to sell them you'll probably have to find individual collectors who are looking for those specific issues.

If you want to know how much those are worth look at what they're going for on Ebay because that's probably where you'd have to sell most of those.

Thanks for the info all. Not really interested in getting rid of them. I just saw all these issues and didn't know what I had. I figured if I had something special this would be the place to find out.

Well, in general those limited editions you got from conventions and what not are likely more "collectible" than the regulars due to the short print runs making them rarer, so those are worth hanging onto for sure since the demand for them will be higher particularly for the completeists you'll find around the interwebz when and if you decide to put them on the market.

Every thing else, who knows, like I said, check Ebay, if you see a modern age book going for more than 10 bucks these days, what I consider the high end of typical back issues, you've got something that's potentially going to be valuable in the future.

I buy and sell comics from time to time and the ones that are worth something are always 1st issues of acclaimed titles (Fables, Y...) or signed issues. The only other modern comics that are "worth" anything are rare variant covers which are expensive to begin with.
