Much like Blackest Night, this is going to launch with a #0 on Free Comic Book Day in May. There's going to be a main series plus tie-ins apparently. Sounds interesting.

Thoughts?

If it's anywhere near as good of World of New Krypton, I'd be interested.

Yeah I've really liked that book too, the first half moreso than the second half though. It kinda shifted focus to little side stories with the Thanagarians and Saturnians that haven't really been executed well, but its still a good book. The first half was just excellent though. I liked when they focused on the Guild system of New Krypton, I found it really interesting that Kryptonian culture has what essentially amounts to an unjust social caste system. Their form of government is basically an oligarchy. I would have liked to see more focus on Supes trying to implement slow change to the system like was shown in the earlier issues. That, and more focus on the new civil relationship between Supes and Zod. But overall, very good series.

Sounds cool.

I'm assuming this is the Earth/New Krypton war that was mentioned in Superman: Secret Origin.

I know what you mean. AFAIK, Johns penned the first half and left the second to Robinson and Rucka who didn't really pull it off quite as well.

No I'm talking about just the 12-issue Superman: World of New Krypton maxi-series. Robinson and Rucka have written all of that. I thought the first 6 issues were excellent but the second half has dipped a bit. But I'm still enjoying it.

I think you're thinking of the Superman: New Krypton inter-title crossover between Action Comics, Superman, and Supergirl that preceded WoNK. Johns wrote Actions Comics for that, which wasn't great IMO. That whole crossover was just meh for me actually.

So this sounds like it'll summer 2010's event, I haven't read much of World of New Krypton besides like 2 issues, but I don't really need to get this story, I bet. I how complex can it be?

I'll see about committing to this.

Someone used acronyms for World of New Krypton on another site, and I was surprised no one noticed it yet.

All I could think of seeing that:

Superman: "ARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"

Guy to the left of Supes: "NYYYYYYAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"

Supergirl: "Ooooooohhhhhh...!!!"

Mon-El: "Snicker..."

Guy to the right bottom of Mon-El: "Huh!"

Guy to the left bottom of Mon-El: "Pffft."

---

I can see that being at least 60% of the dialogue of the story...

More like the face when someone cuts one, in this case, the collective smell of al the people on earth who just cut one....which might explain everyone else's facial expressions... unsure

EDIT: I just realized the background is brown. The fart theory is now valid. Laughing

Holy crap, you're right! Looks like Mon-El did it (just look at his face) and Superman and the other guy are like" "Come on!!! Ewww..." And the guy to the guy to Mon-El's left is grossed out. The others hold their breath and Supergirl, for some reason is the only one impressed... Maybe it's a Supergirl/Mon-El show-down?

IDK, it's easy to explain the big stuff but there's a lot of small stuff that I think will be played up later. Part of the story is that the hope Kal-El spreads on New Krypton vs the security Zod lulls his people into. It's like Superman has made significant groundwork into undermining the authority throughout the series while Zod holds the big guns. David vs Goliath, I suppose you could put it.

So War of Superman will be written by James Robinson and Sterling Gates. It's 4 issues long, all in the month of May, and each book will tell 25 minutes of the story. huh

What do you guys think of that? neutral

This was decent. Although I don't particularly care for Zod's more mustache-twirling approach now. The New Krypton story overall had a lot of potential but I don't think it's nearly lived up to it. This month long series should be a fun ride but ultimately I'm waiting for all this to end and start a new.

I'm not sure how interested I am going to be in this. I mean, did we more or less get this kind of story in "Last Son" where Zod gets a bunch of Kryptonians from the Phantom Zone and attacks Metropolis? I mean, I liked that and I liked that Superman had to team up with his villains to defeat the Phantom Zone prisoners but to me, War of the Supermen seems like the same story but on a bigger scale which is not a bad thing but I've seen this story already. Also, it feels like they are also doing this story in Smallville which is kind of interesting in it's timing.
