fun comics vs grim and gritty

Personally i for the fun comics i like comics that fun reads that aren't going all grim and stuff. While their is a place for grimness in comics i kinda think its kinda overdone a little. Fun comics are awesome. I think comics were always meant to be fun. Like when in the early days of spider-man stan lee made them fun but at the same time it also dramatic but its dramatic in all the right places it was perfect balance.

Since it's no longer on WUMB, i wanted to restart it again since it's a great thread. For those who never heard of it, it's where you take an old TV show, Movie, Videogame, whatever and make it into a new version, darker or cooler then te previous form, a good example would be Space Ghost the TV show and the DC Comics' miniseries reimagining of SG (the mini where Alex Ross provided the covers).

Floppies versus trades

I find that as I get older I find floppies less and less appealing. They take up a ton of space, they're a pain in the ass to re-read, and often times I find myself forgetting what happens between issues. Collected editions, however, store neatly and easily, are easy to re-read, are more economical, and are just easier to deal with in the long run.

While I'll still keep some of the single issues I already have, I'm thinking of not buying new comics anymore and just picking up the trades. ...

I saw this documentary called Dig Comics and it got me thinking about what we do to get others to read comics and help the industry we all love and support grow.

I've introduced a few younger cousins to comics books as well as my friends son. My girlfriends little sister loves reading Jeff Smith's Bone as well as G-Man, Mighty Skullboy Army, and other. My girlfriend also teaches grade school and she's started to add comics to her library.

Also what should the industry do to increase ...
