Dark Reign: The List - Wolverine #1
Most books starring Wolverine but not relying on his appearances too much just happen to end up awesome. Why? Because we enjoy mystique (oops!) in our characters and a little "when-he-gonna-show?" certainly doesn't hurt.
Many have wondered what was up with Noh-Varr (or the 36th Marvel Boy for those counting) and it's good to see something come out of one of Grant Morrison's finer Marvel creations. Another underrated Morrison creation, Fantomex, (Note: And I say underrated probably because the second volume of New X-Men is a little, uh, confusing) also appears in this issue, more updated in uniform than before. These three make an oddball team captured in not only typical Jason Aaron fashion, but also with respects to their originator and his characterizations.
It's a small, simple story in scope but definitely a step above many of the other List narratives. Only 2nd to this week's Punisher. Aaron should forever be writing Wolverine, wouldn't you agree?
4/5 Bags&Boards - eXcellent
