Dark Reign: The List - Wolverine #1

Most books starring Wolverine but not relying on his appearances too much just happen to end up awesome. Why? Because we enjoy mystique (oops!) in our characters and a little "when-he-gonna-show?" certainly doesn't hurt.

Many have wondered what was up with Noh-Varr (or the 36th Marvel Boy for those counting) and it's good to see something come out of one of Grant Morrison's finer Marvel creations. Another underrated Morrison creation, Fantomex, (Note: And I say underrated probably because the second volume of New X-Men is a little, uh, confusing) also appears in this issue, more updated in uniform than before. These three make an oddball team captured in not only typical Jason Aaron fashion, but also with respects to their originator and his characterizations.

It's a small, simple story in scope but definitely a step above many of the other List narratives. Only 2nd to this week's Punisher. Aaron should forever be writing Wolverine, wouldn't you agree?

4/5 Bags&Boards - eXcellent

Dark Reign: The List - The Punisher #1

I had to re-read it to make sure the climactic scene in this issue wasn't a dream sequence of some sorts. It wasn't. Things changed. About time something drastic happened in these List issues--most of which have been pretty solid, but still. Please make sure you read Punisher #10 before this one though. It's kind of dumb we get 2 continuity books in the same week, but it's been happening for so long I should expect it. Just like Secret Warriors #9 came out this week while it was supposed to be out before The List issue 2 weeks back. As for Punisher himself, wow. Pretty gruesome book and actually pretty realistic considering the circumstances involved. Oh, Norman...

4/5 Bags&Boards - Excellent

I thought the issue was hillarious as well as good. I loved the zombies, and Osbourne getting all pissed off because his corpses weren't being a good enough army for him.

***SPOILERS*** I guess???

Everyone seems to hate Frankencastle but really, what else could they've done with Pun at this point? Remender's been so outstanding on the book that I'm willing to give it a chance. I wasn't too excited by the preview at the end of this one, but you never know.

i think this title has been great. i would have liked to see DareDevil payback the punisher for what he did for him when he was in jail by bringing him back with the hand.

Guess you'll have to be clear on which book you're talking about.

Wolverine the List was a frickin riot, I loved the banter in this one whether it was Wolverine and Noh-Varr or Fantomex and Noh-Varr.

Kind of interesting to see two of Grant Morrison's Marvel creations being used, particularly together after both of them kind of slipped under the radar for so long.

"Snikt, Stab, Repeat" had me rolling after reading the other two's internal monologues.

Okay now I see how combining some of these books under one thread for discussion and reviews can get confusing.

Possibly in this situation it is because we're really talking about a bunch of separate books.

just quote the particular book's review in the thread or just mention "In DR List Punisher book, blah blah"...

Hey, I liked the old set-up too, but POP has welcomed us with open arms so we have to respect the way they want to run things. When WUMB comes back, we'll invite them over...and they probably won't come but oh well lol.
