Do you practice your Icky Shuffle?

I remember when I moved from Michigan to Covington KY fright after the 49'rs beat Cincy in the superbowl. I didn't follow football at all I was a baseball guy. But my 4th grade teacther was Jim Rice. He told me to tell everyone down there that my old teacher was Jerry Rice's cousin and that they shouldn't be doing any more Icky shuffling. I was 8 or 9, so of coarse I did it. I had no idea what the Icky shuffle was or who Jerry Rice was..... Found out a couple years later that Jerry Rice was a black dude. My teacher was very much not.

At least I never got beat up over it. But I did go to the same Elementry school Ken Griffey Jr. went to.

At least the Reds can win the big game.

They can't even get to the big game anymore, and won't for a long long time. For some reason the Reds PTB will not get it through their mind that they have to concentrate on their bullpen. We have absolutely noone who can close a game.

I enjoy the game of baseball more than football, but professional baseball is unwatchable IMO for the last ten or so years.

The Bengals started saying Who Dey three to four years before the Saints EVER said Who Dat. It's a fact. A new Orleans college team may have said Who Dat years previously, but had stopped for at least ten years before the Bengals Who Dey'd. FACT.

just for clarification, from a site not run by a BEngals or Saints fan:

So after looking into it, here’s what we think we know:
The phrase was widely used by Bengals fans in 1981.
The phrase was widely used by Saints fans in 1983.
A variation of the phrase was used by some Louisiana high schools and colleges in the 1970s. Is it possible that it was then copied and adapted by Bengals fans? Doubtful. Did the popularity of the Bengals’ chant in 1981 lead to the wider adoption of the Saints’ saying in 1983? This seems likely, but also is not clear.

The Cincy chant came from a local car dealership commercial.

It was a Louisiana/New Orleans sports chant for decades before the Bengals used their version. FACT.

As stated before, it was used in the mid seventies by highschool teams and a college,(and never to national awareness,a nd you know, five or so years is not decades) but never by the Saints until after Who Dey became nationally recognized. I mean seriously, quite a few non biased sports writers have done the research, and there isn't one who credits Who Dat to the saints before Who Dey to the Bengals. No big deal though.

Come on man don't act like "Who Dey" was totally original and that the Saints copied "Who Dat" when it was already a Louisiana/New Orleans saying for decades. Yeah I'm sure its just a coincidence that people in Louisiana/New Orleans were saying "Who dat say they gonna beat them (insert team name)" for decades then Bengals fans independently came up with "Who dey say they gonna beat them Bengals." It seems pretty clearly inspired by the New Orleans area. But like you said, no biggie, I was just messing around anyway.

You claimed Who Dey started after Who Dat BY THE SAINTS. Which is untrue.

And Who Dey probabaly has absolutely nothing to do with Louisanna in general. In early 81, The Bengals started saying Who They think gonna beat the Bengals? Noooooooo Booooooody (which as stated, was inspired by an old local to Cincy car commercial. Hudepohl a beer brewed locally, jumped on the bandwagon with an orange and black can called Hu Dey beer. Then, inspired by that, it was changed from Who They to Who Dey. Hudepohl was actually sold in the stadium, and vendors would scream out Hude! (Who Dey!) when selling, which is where it is thought, people got the idea for Who They. Seriously though, all of this is very easy to read on a number of sports websites, with sites populated by Saints fans the only ones claiming anything differently. Anywho, stay in your own thread, you're getting swamp smell in here. tongue

lol:

CINCINNATI – Chad Ochocinco's pretend $1 bribe is going to cost him a lot more. The Cincinnati Bengals receiver was fined $20,000 and reprimanded by the NFL for taking a dollar bill onto the field during an officials' review of one of his catches last Sunday. Ochocinco held the dollar in his right hand at his side but didn't give it to the official, who motioned for him to stay away.

Ochocinco said he was just having fun, but the league didn't like it.

Ray Anderson, the league's executive vice president of football operations, sent Ochocinco a letter that said: "The very appearance of impropriety is not acceptable. Your conduct was unprofessional and unbecoming an NFL player."

The letter cited league rules that prohibit abusive, threatening or insulting language or gestures toward officials. The letter also noted that players are prohibited from taking items onto the field that are not part of their uniform. The league has cracked down on players using props for celebrations.

During the third quarter of Cincinnati's 17-7 win over the Baltimore Ravens, officials initially ruled that Ochocinco got both feet down at the sideline for a 15-yard catch. The Ravens challenged, and the call was overturned when replays showed the receiver's toe landed on the white sideline.

While the play was under review, Ochocinco walked toward the officials with the dollar bill.

In response to the fine, the company that made Ochocinco's iPhone application said it will donate an additional $20,000 in the receiver's name to the Hillview Acres home for abused children in Chino, Calif. John Shahidi, the president and CEO of Rock Software, Inc., has assisted the home. Also, Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer hosts an annual golf tournament that has raised more than $400,000 for it.
