I wonder how close to home this sits for some of us?

I know I do, but only because Marvel knowledge is easier to come by than researching genealogy.

That's so true... I can barely remember the names of the kids of my cousins, not to mentions the spawns and grand-spawns of my father's cousins. But ask me about the Marvel Universe or show me a panel and I can tell you who penciled it.

Ya, I'd say that is most people with whatever hobby they have, over their family. I mean, records are hard to come by and even current, people live all over the place. Can't expect to keep track of people you could care less to meet. Heh.

It's not that I care less to meet. It's just that I don't got to family gatherings that much. My dad used to know almost anything about his relatives and back in his day all the cousins were united. Since he passed away my brother and I were not really a part of the family other than going to holiday dinner at our uncles'. Then two of his daughters married and had kids, and now one is living with her family in the US, and we were apart from the family for sometime - so it's hard for me to remember all their kids' names. As for the larger circle of my family (second cousins etc.) I gave up on trying to figure that out a long time ago.
