This seems cool! Blackest Night has been DC's biggest seller in awhile so to keep the concept alive is a smart move on their part. And just in names alone, it kinda reminds me of the transition from Dark Reign to The Heroic Age.

I'll state my opinion when more info is revealed, I dunno yet if I'm willing to commit to this.

You can always tell when the solicits are getting ready to drop because both companies start spoiling everything themselves and showing off the covers the covers and variants.

Anywhoo, my guess is that this will be the book dealing with all of the ressurected heroes that get to stick around post Blackest Night as they try to find their place in the DCU and reunite with friends and family.

My thoughts exactly. Heroes like Aquaman, Firestorm, maybe Martian Manhunter come to mind. Its been dubbed "DCU: Rebirth" according to IGN. I guess it was just a matter of time before DC had Johns just "Rebirth" the whole universe. Laughing

Lol, seems to be one of his specialties for sure. Makes you wonder who the lucky "White Lantern" will be.

Well Johns introduced the Dove "white light" immunity early on in the series...I gotta imagine there will be a reason for that, whether there is an actual "White Lantern" or just the creation of "White Light" or something.

IGN is giving some cool updates, plus they're gonna have a Johns interview soon:
http://comics.ign.com/articles/105/1059727p1.html

UPDATE #1: DC has updated its blog with a few new details. The most significant of these is that Brightest Day is not just its own bi-weekly maxi-series. The concept will expand to other titles, applying its banner and logo to them for an undefined period of time.

Titles mentioned so far are Green Lantern, Green Lantern Corps and The Flash.

Executive Editor Dan DiDio describes Brightest Day as an "event that happens across the entire DC Universe, affecting a number of titles." Another phrase used to describe the concept in DC's update is "DCU: Rebirth." The first title to be included in the Brightest Day stable is none other than the Flash ongoing series by Geoff Johns and Francis Manapul. "Several" more books will join Flash in May and June according to DiDio.

UPDATE #2: Not done yet! DC has just revealed that the Titans series by Eric Wallace and Fabrizio Fiorentino, a team fans will recognize from Final Crisis: Aftermath – Ink, will be included in the Brightest Day lineup.

This new creative run begins with a one-shot special in "Titans: Villains for Hire." That story will then continue in the ongoing project. Wallace and Fiorentino will be building a new Titans team lead by none other than Deathstroke. DC confirmed that Tattooed Man and Cheshire will be members of the roster as well.

UPDATE #3: Justice League of America is joining Brightest Day's ever-expanding arsenal of titles, starting with issue #44. DC wouldn't reveal what characters would be a part of the team at that point in the life of the series. No creative team announcements were made in DC's latest news item, so it seems safe to say that James Robinson and Mark Bagley will still be tackling the superhero team.

I have mixed feelings about this. While it's great to have Johns and Tomasi writing this, I don't like that I'll have to pick up 2 more books per month.

Ha! Not surprised by this at all. Figured Blackest Night, like pretty much everyone else guessed, would be the tool to bring back heroes. Kind of lame. But, depends on how they pull it off.

Well...actually...E-2 Superman?

last Update of the day from the Brightest Day reveals:

David Finch will be doing all of the Brightest Day covers.

That's some interesting news, I've been wondering what they had in store for him when he signed exclusively with them and now it sounds like he's going to get to draw the whole dang DCU roster at one point or another in his first couple of months on board.

Nope they're continuing normally, but they will have the "Brightest Day" banner on top to indicate the status quo, similar to the "Initiative" or "Dark Reign" status quo banners.
