Like all the others since SCW, issue #34 does not disappoint! It starts off with a brutal slugfest between Mongul and Arkillo, and was chock-full of everything you could want in a brawl.. punching.. biting.. impaling.. with an ending that involves dismemberment.

Sodam Yat's conversation with his mother is everything you wished you could say to your parents in those times when you knew they f-ed up, but if he doesn't keep that anger in check I could see a ring switch in his future. And where would that leave the GLC with the loss of their most powerful weapon?

Vice let loose on Oa? I can't wait to see that upcoming bloodbath.

And last but not least, Gleason is doing an amazing job with his covers month after month. The imagery he creates is always visually stimulating and immediately sets the tone for what to expect in the book

I, as I'm sure was everyone, was thinking the same damn thing as Sodam flew off the handle. Dude... you need to accessorize better.

I see Mongul collecting some power rings and being a huge problem for the universe.

Yep pretty much how I felt.

Even with that death it was still a great issue, we see what the objective of the BL's is now, that construct was frickin' awesome, and
Spoiler:
what's going to set Guy off enough to send him over the edge and turn him into a Red Lantern.

Tomasi kills another issue, man, him and Johns are just unstoppable right now.

Damn. That last page shocked the hell out of me.

Warning, spoiler contains a spoiler about Blackest Night #4
Spoiler:
I'm not as big a Kyle fan as a lot of people, but I do like him a lot. I'm sad they killed him. I doubt it'll last long though. Heck, Damage was killed in BN #4 and isn't he in the add for the new JSA book? I would assume that takes place after Blackest Night. Anyway, I hope it doesn't last long. The way he died leads me to believe they can bring him back. Maybe he isn't really dead.

I loved this issue. Tomasi continues to impress, and Gleason is doing a fantastic job as well.

The first few issues of the JSoA spinoff are pre-Blackest Night.

He goes out pretty good, pretty much saving OA and the Central Power Battery single handedly, if that's worth anything to you.

This was the first issue of GLC that I picked up and I have to say that I really liked it. The big event in this issue is what made me buy it. At this point I think I'll just wait and pick up the entire Blackest Night arc for this book in a trade.

this was a very good issue the ending was great. it really showed what a hero kyle is. to me it seems like a lot of the great stuff in this story isn't happening in the blackest night mini. i wonder if kyle will become a black lantern now? or was he ok with his death so he won't be able to become one. looking forward to what will happen next

Or Maxwell Smart. Let's face it, basically everything the Guardians have put in place over the last couple of years has turned to crap.

Issue #42

Fan-freaking-tastic! I think this was one of the best issues yet. Damn!

The best way to describe this issue - complete and utter chaos. The last few issues have totally been building to this. Even though I'm curious about what's going on with John I'm glad they stuck with the action here - I think it would have negatively affected the pace to move away from Oa.

I know it wasn't intended that way but I couldn't help laughing at that "touching" scene between Kyle and Soranik while the whole time she had her fist in the head of BL Jade! Laughing

There were just so many great moments in this book. The double page spread of the BLs advancing on the power battery. Guy and the other Lanterns fighting back. Dropping Vice in the middle of the BLs. All the way to Kyle's death. I felt true emotion at what Kyle did and that tells me this is great writing and storytelling by the artist.

For me this was one of the best action issues of a comic I've read in a long time. They just did everything right here.

Can't say much more than I loved it.

Well, now we know what's going to set Guy off.

Leading up to Blackest Night I really felt Johns and Tomasi did a great job of putting a feeling of foreboding through their books. It was palpable. Now I just get the strongest feeling of these characters having their backs up against the wall. Everything looks so grim and I really hope some characters get to shine in fighting this.

Comics at their best here, folks.

Spoiler:
I know I'm probably wrong, but I don't think Kyle's dead. Or if he is he won't stay that way long (I'm not talking about him becoming a BL. They way he died leads me to believe he isn't dead. Maybe being with the battery when it blew caused the ring to think he's dead. I just don't think they'd kill him, but like I said, I'm probably wrong.

He'll be back. It's comics.

But for now let's just go with the 'death' and mourn one of the greatest wielders of the Green light. Guy is gonna go batshit crazy and turn Red I guess and can someone tell me what is the significance of Kyle's ring not seeking a replacement but heading to sector 2261?
