With issue #32 the cracks really are starting to appear in this team and you can see the inevitable break up starting to take form.

I'm actually still thinking "Billy" is actually responsible for his actions. I'm a bit dubious about these people jumping to the conclusion that Billy was under mind control because he was walking funny and saying "must...obey". Umm....what if he was acting??? King Chimera just seems a little too obvious.

So who's responsible for all this and why don't they want Stargirl dead?

Oh and it cracked me up at the start when they showed the bounties on the JSA members and everyone's in the hundreds of thousands to million dollars categories except for Mr America who only rates $23K. Laughing Shows how well he's rated. Actually that's probably my only real criticism of Johns on JSA was that he brought in so many characters but I don't feel like I really know any of them.

I also loved the bounties. They were all pretty appropriate. Considering legacy and trouble to take them down.

I don't think it's King Chimera, either. I'm thinking Johnny Sorrow, mixed with A.I. Thinker and Brainwave, Jr. has finally turned to the "Darkside," so to speak. That'd explain the control on All-American Kid.

Man, I'm wondering if Micheal'll die. JSA is getting a Blackest Night mini coming up. I mean, I know they have a bunch of past villains and heroes that've fallen, adn could go on that, but the current Mr. Terrific is an athiest and that would be a definite clincher for a Black Lantern ring.

no, he pops up in BN #4, so Johns kinda made a spoiler alert there shake my head

^ Ya, I saw him on the cover of the BN: JSA alive, so that's where I got my spoiler. They need to not give summaries or even covers if it'll mess with the current storytelling.

I think I'm going to stick with just the Justice Society of America series and not the other one. I just like the core team although there are members on the other team I do like. Not sure what to do. I wasn't really impressed with the preview though.

Is he still with the JSA? I thought with the Legion reboot, he was no longer there. Also, I thought Power Girl was the Chairwoman of the JSA. The preview really didn't make it seem that way.

Just as a note, I read the fist two series of the Justice Society of America and they were pretty fun. One from '91 about an old story that was never told in the past, and the 2nd series tried to restart things post-Armageddon, but it didn't get very far. Still very cool to have those.

Going to get my next ish of the current run later this week. This month flew by, it seems.

Finished JSA vs. Kobra. Thought it was a little late to create a thread, so I'll chat about it here. The series was pretty good despite my lack of knowledge dealing with Checkmate and such. The first issue was rough, it felt, but pulled together by the second issue. Seemed like it could've been a 4 issue mini. Wasn't disappointed, though. Thought Kobra was going to be a main player in JLA, not JSA. Turned out well. He is a bastard and I love Jason Burr now. Liked the fact that they appeased fans want of a Michael Holt story, which it was basically him. And appropriately, too, because his atheism reflected Kobra's devote faith in what he was doing. Burr reminded me of The Operative from Serenity, with his belief and want for reducing the world to ash to be reborn anew. And also, this paradise he's striving for will not be a place for him, but for others deserving. Faith to Kali Yuga! Wink

Is Jakeem Thunder on any of the teams? Seriously, as soon as Willingham took over he disappeared from the main title.

^ I liked Jakeem. Hopefully he returns in one of the titles.

Just read JSA 80-Page Giant. Much superior than JLA's a month ago. The backbone seemed to be Ted, but each story focused on a character that is still an unknown within the group. Mr. America, Citizen Steel (Which pushes me further to believe that he'll evolve into DC's resident metal elemental, a la Swamp Thing.), Amazing Man (Same as Citizen Steel, but with alchemical elemental because those two are still missing from DC's elemental lineup. At least concretely.), Cyclone, Damage (Didn't hate a story involving him. Interesting), and Wildcat's, Tom Bronson's story, was my favorite of all of them. It really layed it on thick with why he is the way he is. It is still a mystery with the werecat origin, but not who he gained the capability from. Loved the poster below Grant vs. Rocky that was Grant vs. Battlin' Murdoch as a nod to Daredevil, which in turn, with McNider in the crowd, unable to see the fight, being more like Daredevil and his father.

I would've guessed Tom Bronson's origin was based off of Yellow Wasp kidnapping Ted's son and changing him like his son, Killer Wasp, but that was another son, Jake. And Killer Wasp admitted to killing the both of them.

Anyways...4 out of 5. Well worth the price. I'm still trying to figure out the placement, which is well done because it could be at any point after some of the members left.

Same here. It's a shame, because I love lots of the characters, but it's just not holding my interest anymore. I'll pick up the trades if I hear good things.

Just read #33 and I did not guess that. And I don't know why. Willingham was writing and he even brought in Shadowpact villains as part of the villains turned bounty hunter lineup.

I'm still wondering if there are two villains at play here, with two seperate goals, or was that a distraction like it seemed? After reading JSA vs. Kobra, I don't know anymore. I see Injustice Society connections, but then I see Kobra type planning with the attacks from the mercs.

Really, you guys?!?! This title is getting so good. Everthing is playing out well. It's one of the two team books that is kicking butt in DC that I'm currently reading. I understand the Blackest Night has everyone riled up (Which I'll wait for trade with the main event), but this stuff is gold.

I'm just not feeling what Willingham & Sturges are doing. It has nothing to do with Blackest Night; I'd drop the books no matter how many other titles I was currently buying. So far, it seems like W&S are focusing more on letting actions drive the story, whereas Geoff (and James Robinson & David Goyer, when they were writing it) focused more on the characters as the driving force. If the book wasn't splitting, I'd probably stick with it. But I just don't want to pay $7 a month on following characters I love (who are now seemingly outnumbered by characters I don't really care for) purely out of habit, especially when one dollar of that is going to a back-up story focusing on Hourman & Liberty Belle, two of my least favorite JSAers.

I...like Jesse and Rex. Good couple, IMO. :shrugs:

I know what you mean with Willingham's writing, but his way isn't bad. He tries to encompass the team. You don't like the team though, you don't like team. So, your choice.

I'll check out both books, at least to see if the mysteries of this past arc are revealed.

My review of # 33 is up on the main site.

From what I've read in interviews/solicits, the mystery of who took out the hits on the team, and their exclusion of Courtney, will be answered in All-Stars.

It's also take a few issues before it will catch up to Blackest Night and

That makes sense, since the All-Star team is going to be the more proactive team, I believe.

I really really liked issue #33. It was my favorite one since Johns left. Not thrilled by the split, but whatever. I wish Stargirl was staying on the JSA team and not moving to All Stars. I'll get both books because I like characters in each (and I love Freddie Williams II's art), but I like the JSA team better. Jay is my favorite JSAer so I'm bound to like any team with him on it better.

Anyway, I enjoyed #33 a great deal. The mystery of why Courtney was off limits and who is behind the attacks intrigues me. I don't know what it was but I LOVED Merino's art this issue. It was the best I've seen from him yet.

I didn't read JSA vs. Kobra. Should I?
