Yeah it does. Patton Oswald's Wash one-shot should be good, but was anyone really demanding one about Riley? I mean, I like the guy, but I'd rather finish out Season Eight. Eh, it was probably just to give Georges more time to finish up the run.

And was it me, or did it look like he was piloting Nite Owl's Owlship?

I just found this latest issue to be full of meaningless metaphysical mumbo jumbo. Seriously it just felt like too much nonsensical rubbish. Anyway, it was dug out of the hole with the reintroductin of Spike.

Yeah, I don't dislike the character but he is kind of....dull...for his own one-shot.

The Riley one-shot was okay. Not great, but not terrible. Whistler showing up was interesting. Otherwise, totally skippable.

I'd forgotten who Whistler is and had to look him up.

Yeah I thought it was just kind of ho-hum. I don't think it was even Karl Moline's better work. Apart from a couple of highlights I'm really starting to feel Buffy season 8 has been a bit underwhelming.

I have a sneaking suspicion that there will be a status quo set up by the end of season 8 that has season 9 resembling more of the tv show. Could be wrong but I just have this feeling about it.

#36 was okay for a flashback issue. The dog stole the show, though.

Agreed and I actually thought it was one of the better issues in a while. Good to get some answers to a lot of questions and very much looking forward to the return to Sunnydale.

I'm hoping that the scope of this comic is scaled back in season 9. Not asking to just re-hash old stories or status quo or anything but a bit of a "back to basics" approach is in order, in my opinion.

What they've been doing since the beginning of Season Eight -- they're preparing to do what Buffy isn't willing or ready to do, which may be killing Angel or Spike, or something even worse.

From their conversation it sounds like it's Buffy they're going to kill to me. Perhaps if it is killing Angel or Spike they're expecting Faith's going to have to take care of Buffy too as a result of those actions?

I'm finding this latest arc more enjoyable than some of the previous stuff and it's definitely fun to have Spike around.

#38 was okay. A bit dry, but that comes with being the third part of a five-part story. Anyone else get the feeling that not everyone's going to make it? (Looking at you, Giles.)

Yep I get that feeling too. Giles is definitely a candidate.

I don't know about anyone else but I'm finding the plot for this just ridiculously overcomplicated and I've said it all series long, Jeanty's art is just not up to a book where the characters should all be likenesses of real people and, additionally, has a huge cast (in other words everyone looking the same is NOT an option).

I'm really not sure I'll be buying into season 9 despite how much I like Buffy. I just feel like this whole season 8 (even though it's not quite over yet) has been pretty ordinary.

^Yeah, I wanted to love season 8, and I did like some of it a lot, but I just wasn't really feeling it. I dropped the book after the Twilight arc, but I haven't read anything since the Fray arc.

I thought Buffy went downhill with season 6 to be honest. I casually checked out the comics for both Buffy and Angel and really have not been impressed with it.

#39 was odd. Tons happened, but I'm not quite sure how much will stick. I'm really wanting the final issue to come out so we can see what exactly happened.
