If you notice, Aquaman and Firestorm seem to be the only ones that still have a trace of Black Lantern influence. What if..

I nominate issue 4 for worst cover text of the week. A picture of Black Lantern Firestorn, and next to it is printed "BLACK LANTERN FIRESTORM" which ruined the cool art for me. I am kins of a stickler for bad cover design though.

When do covers really deal with what's going on with the issue? More times than not it's just pinup porn. There are exceptions but not usually.

The story seems to be moving pretty slowly, and with money getting tight I'm having to drop this.

Misleading cover aside, this was pretty good.

As far as the cover thing goes, there are 12 characters this story is going to focus on. And in a perfect world, every cover would line up with every character being focused on in that particular issue. But, in reality, maybe they just assemble the book based on what artwork is ready to go. I have no problem with this, since the cover has absolutely no bearing on my opinion of the actual story. It's nothing more than eye candy to me.

It's strange that he's not in it but whatever. It didn't keep me from reading it only going "Hum, he wasn't even IN this issue." when I was done reading it.

He wasn't visually there, but he's definitely influencing Ronnie. Either way, I don't think it's that big a deal. It's a story about 12 different characters, who cares which one of them gets the cover?

jaydee74 wrote:I thought #3 was really good. The Firestorm story is really getting good for me. I feel really bad for Ronnie. The Hawkman/Hawkwoman story is intriguing and curious to see where it's going. Was that Atlanteans attacking the people on the boat? I really liked what Hawk wanted Boston Brand to do with his ring. As gruff as he is, there was a reason that he got to that place and it was the death of his brother. This was a great issue and I cannot wait for the next one.
I love that Hank thought of doing that straight away. Great character move.

The Deadman stuff has still got my vote for most intriguing. The Aquaman stuff has definitely still got my vote for slowest moving.

Spoiler:
I tend to think that's exactly what's been inferred since the start of this series - that some characters may still be under the influence or connected to them being former Black Lanterns. It really looks like there may be a very high price to pay for some of these characters coming back.

QFT. As much as I loved the cover and was kind of hoping for more of that inside, it didn't spoil the enjoyment I had with this issue.

Indeed. Also, Nekron was taken down pretty fast so I'm sure BN wasn't the last we will see of him.

BN #4

This faster-moving, more character-centric issue was clearly more focused and steady than the previous three. That's agreed. What's continued to be a high-point is the art, at the point where it matters not who of this conglomerate is drawing what -- it's all been exceptional. Just take a look at that opening scene with the Hawks. These splash pages have been rather gawdy as well. I wasn't too enthused by the Hawks story but Johns and Tomasi's focus here has got me focused on their dealings with the devil.

I LIKE that Martian and Aquaman weren't in this book. To me, those were the two most popular threads in Brighest Day, so to see them pushed aside for others is a smart move. There's no show of bias--other than Boston Brand, cause he has to be--giving face to every reborn character on the block.

If this continues, we'll be comparing 52 to this.

Brightest Day #4

I greatly enjoyed this. I'm super interested in every story.

You know, the more I see of Hawk, the more I like him. Prior to him being brought back the only exposure I had to him was the episode of JLU he was in. I'm really liking him in the comics. As far as I'm concerned the more of him the better.

Hm so no Brightest Day #5 this week. I wonder if that's because of delay or if they plan on taking 3-week breaks every few weeks.

I assume it was because when they said "bi-weekly" they meant "twice a month." And this week got skipped because there were five this month.

So it's not bi-weekly it's semi-monthly.

I thought the book was going to be every other week as well. Twice a month isn't bad though.
