So, I was really excited to hear that Robinson was writing a new issue of Starman.
Then I read it.
Anyone else read it?
Then I read it.
- Spoiler:
- So David is raised by a black ring, and goes on a rampage through Opal. This could have been an insanely moving story, with Jack forced to deal with his zombified brother murdering the people they were sworn to protect. Instead we got The Shade shacking up with Hope O'Dare and acting like Robinson forgot how to write one of the more interesting characters ever.
I think rather than Starman 81 this could have been titled The Shade: Blackest Night and it kind of read like fanfic. The style of speech Shade used just seemed so out of place for the character.
I was iffy about the art at first, but it grew on me as the issue progressed. Appropriately dark for the story, I think.
