Question about Xbox live message settings

Alright, here's the deal. I've been called the dreaded "N" word (i'll give you a hint, it wasn't neighbor) 3 times while playing live today. Twice over voice communications, and the last time in a text message that some little bastard had the temerity to send me because I was beating him. I don't bother with the headset anymore, but i've been looking for a way to block strangers from sending me text messages, and limit it only to my friends. I've looked through the settings, and can't seem to find a way. Is there a way? Thnx.

BTW, just to put the little skin-head on blast, his user name is: Ryuk xX

here's what u do:

1. on tha dashboard, go to tha my xbox, and go to tha second blade or whatever, tha one ur avatar is standin in front of (u can also get there using tha guide button on ur controller and goin over to settings...profile...edit profile and then jump to step 4)

2. hit that and go down to profile and hit that

3. go down and hit edit profile

4. at tha bottom of that list is privacy settings

5. first option there is voice and text comms (u can allow all, friends only, or block all)

See, this is the one thing I hate about the X-Box 360 Live Community and most internet gaming communities in general. Nobody can just play and have a good time. There are always ass-hats talking about sexual things, making racist comments, and being just plain annoying. Thank God for the mute button and privacy settings.

^ As do I. The sad thing is that its mostly little kids engaging in this sorts of shenanigans. The Live reporting system is to blame as well. Voice communication is one thing. I really don't expect the millions of gaming sessions to be monitered at all times. But when someone is dumb enough to send you a threatening/racist message like this d-bag did, they should be permanently banned. The reporting system is too vauge. People could easily forward them these vulgar messages, and they could nip this in the bud.

I agree that the reporting system is way too vague. This bastard was cursing at me (which I don't care all that much about) and told me he was going to get his buddy to hack my system because he died in the last level of a Left 4 Dead 2 campaign. I don't know if this is possible or not, so I attempted to report him and the choices were so vague that I couldn't wrap my head around which category of insult I should classify it as. anyone under the age of 18 shoud be banned from X-Box Live. That would solve 85% of the problem right there.
