We all loved Tony Hawk's games and until this day, I still do but Skate's realism somehow makes the series' arcade style (even though it's dominated the genre) seem owned. I can't wait for this the second sequel to come out-Skate can only go higher.

Gameplay-

News-

Two new game modes have been added, one to simplify the trick system and one to make it harder, also known as Hardcore Mode. Hardcore Mode restricts tricks to be performed at a lower height to make things such as flip-tricks and getting onto ledges harder; it has been said that you can bail on flat if you don't flick a trick hard enough. Grinds are also much harder as there isn't as much 'suction' into ledges and rails. It also takes five pushes to get to top speed on flat as opposed to the three in the last two skate games.

Create-a-park is also a big feature in Skate 3. This allows gamers to build skateparks similar to the Tony Hawk games. According to the skate website, players can build a variety of set-ups such as mega ramps and plazas.

There will be three new game modes to play with others: '1-Up', 'Domination', and 'Own The Lot'. In 1-Up you have a given number of seconds to get a point total as a team and then the other team has to beat, or "1-Up", that score. In Domination the teams are going against each other trying to own as many spots that they can in a time limit. In Own The Lot there will be six to twelve things to do (eg; grind a ledge, fliptrick off a ramp) in a certain area that need to be completed by your team first to win.

The game will take place in the fictional city of Port Carverton, which embraces skateboarding, unlike the "skateboarding is a crime" mentality that permeated the second game. It is also a much more colorful and happier place than Skate 2's desaturated, grainy streets. Instead of security guards chasing you, they will instead point you to the next great spot, and pedestrians will cheer you on, rather than complain when you skate by them.

Activision did the Tony Hawk franchie in with that god-awful Tony Hawk:Ride release. That peripheral's useless. The series was already in a steady decline do to a lack of gameplay innovation, but leave it to Activision to slap an over-priced peripheral on it to give it that final push off the cliff.

I haven't played it but I'd like to at least once-it definitely won't made me leave the Skate series but I'm sure it's decent. But sadly a...sequel is in the works. Sad

News-

On December 5 2009, Tony Hawk spoke out about the critics on Twitter, saying "Most snarky critics had their minds set before ever seeing/playing the game. I'm proud of what we created; it's innovative, responsive & fun"

I bought this last week and after playing it I can safely say it's a heck of a lot better than the previous 2 games. I've been landing the sickest tricks in some of my lines. I'm questing for all the achievements right now.

Tony Hawk: Ride is the first Tony Hawk game that I will not be getting. Just looks terrible and I am not putting that crappy skateboard deck controller on my wood floors to scratch up. Sorry Mr. Hawk.

...and a waste of money. Why the hell would I buy that waste of a deck for just Tony Hawk games? Is there even going to be a sequel to Ride?

I've made "The Monkey Boyz", used the Monkey logo. It's my old Skate crew.

Right now I used the Monkey because I like Monkeys but there are a few others I like as well. I love this game. Everytime I play this game, I completely lose all sense of time. The soundtrack is outstanding. I love everything about this game. I also like how as you continue to fall, you can see bruises on your skater which is really neat.

Yeah. As you get more cred for completing tasks, your logo gets tagged in certain areas. When I can do promo photo missions, I try to skate an area that has my tag because it's awesome to have your tag in the picture. I noticed the shirt you wear does get dirty when you bail which is pretty freaking awesome. I am in love with the soundtrack of this game though. I love how they have that one song from "Silence of the Lambs". It was the scene where the bad guy is making a video of himself dancing naked and the song he dances to is one of the tracks which is awesome. I also love that Beastie Boy song.

Back to the game though. Wink

I love that you can do darkslides which leads to a question. How similar is Skate 3 to Skate 2? I played the first Skate game and it was ok. I skipped Skate 2 completely and now I'm playing Skate 3? Do I need to get Skate 2?

I love flipping into a darkslide in mid-air then popping out just before I land.

Um, Skate 2 is good, better than Skate 1 but nowhere near the level of 3. If you can find it used buy it though, the 4 player Hall of Meat is awesome.

To summarize my overly long and obviously redundant thread: I like skate 3, here are some graphics I made.
