This years Treyarch developed instalment of the mighty ‘Call of Duty’ has been named ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’ as a dedicated fan site has been informed recently by unconfirmed Activision sources. Some other game details have emerged that may surprise you, it doesn’t appear to be a World at War continuing campaign, and nor is it primarily based around Vietnam.

Call of Duty: Black Ops, will be set in recent history between WWII and the present day as some missions will take players to Cuba and South America, hinting that a Vietnam conflict will feature as part of the game. In other missions players will be able to take on the role of a SAS Operative within the British Army to fight close combat campaigns based on London during the 1980s.

It was also confirmed that the the popular Zombie mode is back! The original ‘World at War’ horde style game in which players get to shoot down a mass of Zombies - but this comes as no surprise due to its popularity. Other details regarding improvements or new Zombie features (if any) was not revealed.

Finally, dedicated servers is also meant to be part of the new Call of Duty game, which should put a smile on many a PC gamers face! Whilst all this information does read very legit, until Activision and Treyarch have released an official statement we still have to regard this as a rumor.

Call of Duty 7 - long rumoured to be set in Vietnam - will feature the custom killstreaks introduced in Modern Warfare 2.

That's according to the eagle-eyed super-fans at CoD Vietnam News, who've dug through Treyarch's recent forum comments with a fine comb to compile a list of things we know about the next Call of Duty (which admittedly isn't much).

Apparently, the developer's 'Treyarch dev Vahn' (real name David Vonderhaar - Multiplayer Design Director for the upcoming CoD game) has strongly suggested the firm will ditch a lot of the imbalances of MW2 multiplayer, including the Commando perk and the controversial nuke killstreak.

Previous rumours suggested the game will be called 'Black Ops' and feature SAS missions in Iran, according to an 'Activision insider'.

Here's what they came up with:

While they've tried having custom killstreaks for each class, that seemed to complicate the 'purity and speed' of Create a Class. Consequently, it's fair to assume that customizable killstreaks are all but confirmed. At this stage in development, killstreaks stack and carry over if you die, but do not contribute to further killstreaks (hence eliminating the 'camping for killstreaks' problem of Modern Warfare 2). Treyarch are not fans of Commando, the extended melee range perk in Modern Warfare 2, and it is unlikely to return. They've tried a 'manned' version of the Sentry Gun killstreak, but weren't fans. We may well see a return to pistols as the only available sidearm, or perhaps a choice between pistols and launchers. Vahn and many of the team are not fans of shotguns and machine pistols as secondary weapons - it gives a player 'too much firepower'. The knife may well become a secondary weapon - although Vahn didn't want to say too much. Finally, don't expect the nuke to return as a killstreak. Vahn says they are not fans of a game-ending killstreak

I can't wait to see what Treyarch does, they did a great job with WaW. Right now I'm waiting for the MW2 Stimulus package to hit the PSN store, can't wait to play the 3 new maps, and the two from MW.

http://www.codblackopsnews.com/2010/...k-ops-details/ if this article doesnt make you excited i dont know what will !!

General

* OXM reckons, unsurprisingly, that this will be ‘one of this year’s very biggest, and best’ games
* The graphics, as we saw in the teaser trailer, are amazing – in particular building are demolished brilliantly and ‘dynamic shadows’ that build tension
* ‘Black Ops has a different, grubbier vibe to MW2′
* Treyarch are approaching the game as ‘3 games in one’ – single player, co-op, and multiplayer
* There’s ‘dedicated co-op’, suggesting a departure from WaW – Treyarch ‘changed the subject’ when asked about zombies
* Treyarch have taken ‘creative risks’
* There are more than 200 people working on Black Ops
* The difference between World at War and Black Ops is like the difference between CoD2 and CoD4

Campaign

* You’re a member of SOG (Studies and Operations Group) working in deniable ops during the Cold War – we knew that.
* There’s fighting in ‘Vietnam, the frosty Russian mountains, the Laotian undergrounds and everything in between’
* Naturally, you’ll be fighting the North Vietnamese Army
* In ‘WMD’, the mission USA Today played, you are indeed controlling the SR-71, and you issue orders to soliders down below
* In ‘Victor Charlie’, you start off in a crashed helicopter in the Huong River, and make your way upstream, swimming, with only a knife
* In ‘Payback, you’re in a fully-controllable helicopter – you drive it and shoot it

Gameplay

* ‘Stealth plays a big part’
* Rapelling: you’ll be able to feel ‘each crash back into the cliffside with a bone-jarring thud’
* You can call in air support to decimate NVA buildings
* Your player has a voice, unlike other CoD games

Weapons

* The crossbow was confirmed
* As was the 'dragonbreath' flame-throwing rounds for the SPAS-12 (also confirmed)
* The M202 'Grim Reaper' rocket launcher was name-dropped
* And, (thanks to WePlayCoD), the guy in the full-page picture is holding a MAC-10
* Vehicles return, 'but not the way you remembered them from WaW'

Multiplayer

* Multiplayer began development early on, such that some single player levels are based on multiplayer maps
* A beta's 'being considered'
* We've heard it before, but Treyarch will be improving multiplayer from suggestions, and acknowledged the under-the-map glitches that plagued WaW's launch
* Matchmaking for consoles has been improved (although as we learned earlier, PCs will almost certainly get dedicated servers)
* Create a Class 2.0 - improved character customization includes kit and appearance items!

I got BO the night it came out and was quite surprised. Surprised by the fact that I was wrecking shop on X-Box Live. Very Happy In MW2, I had a K/D of about .90. And would rarely get above 15 kills a game. In BO, I am racking up kills left and right even w/o air support. I think my first 3 games a had 30 kills in each of them. I attributed it to the game being new and people had not yet adjusted to it. But I have still been playing and still racking up kills. So in essence, I like. Laughing
