Stealth #1
Writer: Robert Kirkman
Art: Sheldon Mitchell
Cover: Marc Silvestri

If the Silvestri cover and the #1 on the cover were not enough to get you to pick up this issue and check it out, then I blame your LCS for not displaying this book properly. This book is part of the Pilot Season popular vote/fans choice contest of sorts that Top Cow started back in 2007. If your not familiar with the concept here is the brief: A handful of new titles given one issue to impress people enough to vote for the book to become an ongoing. Go to (www.myspace.com/pilotseason) to find out more information about Pilot Season and vote for your favorite title. (I highly recommend this one.)

I didn’t mention the other name on the cover…Robert Kirkman. Kirkman has been blazing a trail and gaining in popularity with his work on Walking Dead and Invincible. He does not fail here. This story was such a slanted view on super hero life that everybody should at least check it out. Basically you have an awesome looking super hero with alien technology armor that is humanized in one of the most realistic ways possible. What would happen if a super hero went senile and had Alzheimer’s disease? This book is your chance to find out.

The characters in this possible single issue are interesting, their relationships leave you curious and the clincher at the end almost demands that we get more.

Art in the issue suits it well and the scenes change often. The action sequences are good and the artist captures the pain, remorse, and confusion on the faces of the characters well.

This is a good book with a great concept. Don’t just pick it up and read it. Go vote for it.

Man I phased out Top Cow from my pull list and I didn't even realize it! The only book I was getting regularly was Witchblade, and I stopped getting it a while ago.
I read that the whole Pilot season stuff wasn't very good. Any truth to that???

Now I like most of the stuff I read by Kirkman. I'll have to keep an eye out for his name on Top Cow stuff from now on.

I honestly didn't know it was or that there ever was a contest like this. That is, until I bought Murderer by the Kirkman and Silvestri.

He is constantly bombarded by the thoughts that he can hear from others. Killing someone is the only way he can silence them. I honestly wanted more from this pilot issue but really enjoyed the concept. A three and half out of 5 from me.

I'll consider looking up Stealth and the other 3 or 4 that are in the competition. Course, they're all created by the same creator team, so it's a win for either book that gets to be continued.

I'll have to pick that one up Blue. I didn't even go to the shop this week because I didn't have any major titles drop. So I'll have to check it out.

I am pumped for the new Magdalena series. I love Patience, I think she is an interesting character and I think its about time they continued her series instead of just having her pop up in Witchblade every time something big goes down. don't get me wrong I love the cross-overs but I want to see Patience on her own now.

Yes! I kind of lost interest in Witch Blade. Then I saw this Magdalena book on the shelf, and thought I would give Top Cow another go-round. I am so happy I did!

I've never really read any of the Top Cow universe stuff so have decided to get Artifacts to check it all out and see if I'm interested. Seemed like not a bad starting point.

It is a pretty good place to start I imagine there will be back story on everything thats going on, so it will be easy to get the gist. I hope you enjoy it.

I had a chance to review an advance copy of Velocity #1, which comes out on Wednesday. It's not as wild and crazy as the Pilot Season one-shot was, but it's a solid superhero story, and (amazingly enough) new-reader friendly.

Here's my Velocity #1 review at First Comics News.

Thanks for that review! This book was not on my radar, but it looks really good! I'm heading out to my shop soon and I hope they have it.
