Since his debut in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Raiden was always known as a sissy pretty-boy who was flipping around in the nude. The Raiden we once knew was transformed into a total badass killing machine in Metal Gear Solid 4 and now players will be able to control him once more with his incredibly sharp blade in Metal Gear Solid: Rising.
Rather than all the tactical stealth action Solid Snake pioneered, Raiden will be up-close and personal with taking down foes though there will still be a little sneaking around to be done here and there. As seen in the video above, the blade can cut through virtually anything and you'll be able to make some choice cuts when time slows down. That little lunch preparation at the end shows off how flexible the cutting mechanic can be.
And what about that scene with Raiden messing with that glowy spinal cord thingamajig? Raiden's other major skill is to absorb all sorts of things from robots such as life, parts, ammo, items, and even information. Absorption doesn't work on humans so be mindful of your surroundings.
