And thanks for the feedback, Foxy. Meagan was awesome. I'm working on some more stuff with her in the future. Good times.

re: Messiah Complex mention
I actually just read that two days, before even hearing it mentioned on the popcast. Fully agree on it's recommendation. I read the first issue on a random whim, then ended up reading all thirteen issues in one sitting. If there was any "jump on" point for X-titles, I think that would be it.

Oh, the show would of course be available for download the following day. We'd just give you the option to listen live and interact with both us and each other during the recording.

"Showgirls" happens to be one of my all-time favorite movies -- yet, for all its nakedness, Brian can't stand it. But I even have that "Special Edition" DVD that came with out with the tassels & a video on how to perform a lapdance. Laughing

It's such a bitchy movie - and Lee touched upon one of my favorite parts: when Tony Moss has all the girls line up for the audition & he starts tapping 'em on the shoulder. The Industry is an ugly machine, and it doesn't matter if the story's about dancing, modeling, music, or acting: the names change, but the games are always the same.

"I've seen you before."
"Yes, Mister Moss. I auditioned for you in January. You told me to get my nose fixed."
"Nice job."
"Thank you, Mister Moss."
"Nice smile, too."
"Thank you, Mister Moss!"
"You know what tho'? Your ears are sticking out. They are. Come back & see me when you get 'em fixed. << TAP! >> See ya."

When I was a working model and fly girl, I really did see people like that. It never failed to surprise me; you'd tell 'em being legless is the latest thing & I swear they'd show up on your doorstep in a little cart saying, "Oh, 'Boxing Helena' was my favorite movie!" It was funny in a sad way. Unfortunately, I knew a few "Mollys," too. It's not always easy to tell who the predators are. But I do think Verhoeven did a pretty good job demonstrating how catty and exploitative some of that shit is behind the 'glamor.'

"It made me feel like a hooker."
"You are a whore darlin'."
"No, I'm not! (<-- says the whore) Maybe YOU are a whore, Crystal, but I'm not."
"We all are. We take the cash, we cash the check, we show them what they wanna' see."

Even if Nomi wasn't trash, her progressive disillusionment & fall from (no)grace is fun to watch. Personally, I preferred Crystal's character. And I enjoyed seeing Gina Gershon rising up naked out of a volcano. It was obvious that Berkley had just dropped a lot of weight quickly for the part, but Gina's overall muscle tone in that movie was healthy and looked well-maintained.

But y'know who has the sweetest ass in that entire flik? Annie. The black dancer Julie takes down with the beads. When her "wants-everyone-to-know-just-how-hetero-he-is" partner grabs her ass on his way up the stairs... ("Touch that shit again & I'll break your fuckin' fingers!") Holy shit that girl is tight! Laughing

Just remembered something else; another movie which tells a similar tale in a similar fashion (the most notable differences being the songs, Z-Man, and the size of the sweater cows) was "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls."

Something tells me, Lee, that you're probably already familiar with that one as well... Wink

Totally. I finally saw the uncensored version a few weeks ago.. I love it. It's so bad. I'd only ever seen bits of it on TV (with the crappy drawn on bras tongue ) so seeing it uncut was fun. My favorite what-the-hell part of that movie is when her old boss from the Cheetah shows up at rehearsal and as he's walking out says, "It must be weird, not having anybody c-- on you" then exits the scene. :huh Laughing
