I just saw this today. Sounds interesting for those of you who enjoy cosplaying.

From the NYCC website:

The NY Comic Con & NY Anime Festival will be celebrating the art of costumes and cosplay with the NYCC and NYAF Masquerade. Saturday, October 9th at 7:30pm, thousands of fans will flock to the Special Events Hall of the Javits to check out the amazing costumes of their favorite characters, live onstage.

Known for your cosplay skills or just build incredible costumes? You belong in the Masquerade! The NYCC and NYAF Masquerade consists of two divisions, the Performance Contest and the Walk-on Costume Contest. If you are confident in your craftsmanship skills, but aren’t a big performer, join us as a Walk-on Contestant. If you can cosplay your favorite character better than anyone at the con, then being a Performance Contestant is for you. Want to win the ultimate prize? You better be a double threat!
Performance Contestant

The New York Comic Con and New York Anime Festival celebrate the world of cosplay through a costume showcase that is part fashion show and part talent show like no other. Join a group of friends no larger than 6 to become your favorite characters in a performance on-stage.
Walk-on Contestant

The Walk-On Costume Contest is your chance to show the fanboys and fangirls what a real Spider-Man, Catwoman, or Shinigami looks like, not just a store bought version. The Walk-on Contest is like a fashion show, no performances are required.

All participants, Performance and Walk-ons, will strut their stuff during the NYCC and NYAF Masquerade from 7:30pm-10pm on Saturday, October 9th in the Special Events Hall of the Javits Center. A mandatory rehearsal will take place on the morning of Friday, October 8th and Craftsmanship Judging will take place prior to the Masquerade on Saturday so be sure you are available for all of these required activities, not just the Saturday night event.
How does all of your hard work pay off? Prizes!

The contestant with the best costume construction at the Masquerade will win the award for Best Craftsmanship. Best Performance will be awarded to the act with the most outstanding cosplay performance and accuracy of their character. Those of you with that competitive streak will want to aim for the top in both Craftsmanship and Performance. The winner of the highest combined score in both categories will win the Yume Cosplay Prize. NYCC and NYAF’s Masquerade plays host to the finals of the Yume Cosplay Prize. Last year’s Yume Cosplay Prize winners won a trip to the Tokyo Anime Fair, and this year’s winners will receive a trip to another global cosplay destination.

The NYCC & NYAF Costume Contest and Masquerade is your chance to have your costume and talent recognized in front of thousands of pop culture fans and, if your costumes are good enough and your performance daring enough, even win a trip to a global cosplay destination!
