And, for the record, being an ass here doesn't mean that I would be a jerk there. I do have some idea of how to comport myself around people who bother me.

I don't want to derail the topic too much, but I feel I need to address this.

I can't speak for your experience at Zeus, Doug, so I'm not going to say you didn't have a bad one one.

However, I've spent large quantities of time in the store and I've seen Richard, Barry, and Keli interact with all sorts of customers, regulars and otherwise, and I've never seen them give anything but good service. I didn't know Richard or Barry before I started shopping there and it was their great service that kept me coming back, despite it being an hour drive for me. I'm not sure what you consider "awful behavior", but in the countless hours I've spent just hanging out in the store I can say I've never witnessed anything I'd even consider sub-par, let alone awful. Am I being a little over-sensitive because my roommate and best friend works there? Probably, but I received stellar service long before she worked there and while I might be a little more rabid defending the store, I'm being no less truthful because of it.

You've been unnecessarily vocal about your distaste for Zeus for some time now, and I don't get why you keep harping on it. I don't care if you prefer to shop elsewhere, diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks, but I am baffled why you continue to go out of your way to make snide comments, going so far as to say you'll actively avoid me simply because I support them. You hate Zeus, we get it.

And, for the record, being an ass here doesn't mean that I would be a jerk there. I do have some idea of how to comport myself around people who bother me.
I'm glad internet anonymity has given you the courage to say things behind someone's back you'd never say to their face.

I will not avoid you for being a fan or their friend, Josh. But our experiences at Zeus were vastly different.

I wasn't aware that I had been harping on it for some time, now. I think I made a single comment about not finding the Variants funny, and another post when we decided to find another place to shop, but I don't think I've been OVERLY negative, mostly because I know you're friends of theirs, and I don't blame the shop; I blame two distinct people, one of whom owns the shop and allows the other to act horribly to customers.

I would say these things to Richard, if I thought things would change. But I find it hard to believe that he (and you) can be that completely oblivious to the way Barry behaves a lot of the time. Just because it doesn't bother you doesn't mean that it's not bothersome.

But, I'm done. I swear, here and now and in front of God and all willing witnesses, that I will never post another rude, unkind, or catty remark about Zeus Comics, the Variants, or any member of the staff or cast thereof. I apologize if I've created a hostile environment for you, a good friend of theirs, and want you to know that I do not hold any animosity towards you, and consider this matter closed.

I would still hang out with you, Josh. That post was a shitty thing to say, and I should have walked away.

EDIT TO ADD: And, just to clear things up, your roommate and Keli are the people we miss most on new comic book day. They were always awesome.

Well, I love Keli. For some reason, I thought your roommate was the stockroom guy.

I learned something today! Yay! Smile

Stockroom guy? Laughing Barry, Richard, and Keli are the only people who work there. Anyone else seen in the web show are actors who don't actually work at the store.

Aha. I guess I was confused, because Richard isn't above getting his friends to pitch in, and there is/was one who seems to turn up more regularly than anyone else. I guess I assumed that guy a) was an employee and 2) didn't want to be in the show, and they cast someone else to 'portray' him.

I learned two things today! Laughing

So they just added Carrie Fisher to the guest list and I may have just crapped a brick. Sadly, I have a bad feeling I won't be able to afford what she charges for an autograph. Especially if it up near 50 bucks or more. I just can't bring myself to pay that much for someone's signature.

This makes me so, so happy. I wasn't willing to pay the fee to meet her at C2E2 and have since regretted it. I wasn't sure when, or if, I'd get a second chance.

Here's hoping I've got the money to do it this time.

That's how it was at C2E2. I don't know if the same will hold true for Dallas, but I anticipate that it will.

If it's anything like the Stan Lee or Nimoy stuff, you have to buy a ticket which includes the cost of a signature.

I really want to get a good 8x10 of her from "The Burbs" to have her sign. I'd probably regret not having a signed Gold Bikini pic though.

I plan on getting her book, Wishful Drinking, signed. If photos are included in the cost of meeting her, I'd love to take a picture with her as well.
