So, did anybody else pick up issue 1?

I thought it was fantastic. Brubaker, Phillips, and Staples are my favorite team in comics. I liked how even though this was really Incognito vol. 2 I still think that a new reader could jump on here. As always the article at the back of the book was really interesting and the painting that went with it is in my cycle of desktops.

If you're thinking about picking this up, do it.

My PCS' shipment of it was damaged, so I've got to wait a week.

Highly enjoyed it. I can see why some people are saying it's like Bru's rehashing bits Sleeper, but Sleeper is my favorite thing he's written so I'm okay with that.

It does have bits of Sleeper in it, but I wouldn't say that it's too much or it's a rehash. You do superheroes working for the government stories and you're going to run into things that might be similar.

Issue #1 was excellent and lived up to all my expectations following from the first series. I love that things aren't going so smoothly for Zack (let's face it, it would be pretty boring if they were). I also like that there's still a focus here on being undercover or "incognito" as per the original storyline.

Another thing I really get a kick out of is all the pulpy names for characters that Brubaker is coming up with. "Simon Slaughter" is great!

The article, as usual, was very interesting. I don't know if I drew the same parallels as Brubaker did out of the article but I thought it was interesting that there was a pulp character that sold well for years and years but actually was just never that good. I think there are comics these days that so well for no real reason except that fans buy them for the sake of it (ie. to keep their run going, etc).

#2 was quite good. If he lives, Midas could be an interesting character.

Yeah I think this is a great world Brubaker's built. I'm keen to see what the Black Death is going to do next and also who that is at the end.

#3 was good. Zack's going further down the rabbit hole.

The new bad guy is pretty bad ass. This had the best opening scene in a comic that I've read in a while.
