Nearly anything by Timothy Zahn, Michael Stackpole or Aaron Alliston.

All in all, I'd have to go with Darth Bane: The Rule of Two.

Splinter of the Mind's Eye and The Young Jedi Knights series, which was about Jacen and Jaina Solo training on Yavin 4.

Splinter of the Mind's Eye is the book that told me Leia was Luke's sister long before Jedi came out.

I never read Splinter of the Mind's Eye until long after Jedi came out, so I always just thought it was a bit off, what with Luke checking Leia out at certain times in the book.

The Courtship of Princess Leia was my first Star Wars novel and so far its been the very best of the dozen or so I've read.

Hard to pick just a few for me...

Loved The Medstar Duology... really made me a fan of Barriss Offee.
The Republic Commando books are great.
Yoda: Dark Rendezvous, Star by Star, and I Jedi are amazing.
Currently I am reading Fate of the Jedi (as they are released) and the X-Wing series (just ordered the 6th book). Both are great so far... well Omen was kind of a miss for me, but the other two FotJ books get thumbs way up.

I loved Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire books. It was an awesome start to some interesting books. I also like the Young Jedi series.

I just recently finished reading Abyss, book three in the Fate of the Jedi series. Now I'm officially caught up with Star Wars books! It's only taken me about 3 years!

Have you, or anyone else for that matter, read 501st: Imperial Commando?

I read Heir to the Empire vol. 1 by Timothy Zahn from 1992 and thought it was extremely boring. I picked it up at a thrift store I think. Thats the only one I have but it was so boring that I never bought anymore.

I grew up reading the Young Jedi Knights, so it'll always have a special place in my heart, as well as the Heir to the Empire series. I'm also partial to The Courtship of Princess Leia just because it's so funny and has great character development. Oh yeah, and the Hand of Thrawn books, where Luke and Mara get together...

I just love them all. Smile

I have yet to read any of the Fate of the Jedi stuff, just because I'm still slogging through the Legacy of the Force. Can't wait, though. I've heard lots of good things.

Recently got back into SW novels. I'm waiting for the Fate of the Jedi stuff to come out in Paperback before I dig in. My favourites would be any of the Thrawn stuff, or Traviss' Republic Commando stuff (which she's recently announced she'll be abandoning over Canon disagreements). Michael A Stackpole's stuff is also well worth a look.

Yeah I saw that Karen Traviss isn't gonna do any more Commando books. I thought that was a little crappy on the editor's part. She tells a pretty decent story, I don't get why they can't just let it go on.

I just finished reading 501st: Imperial Commando... and now I'm really disappointed. There was definitely no resolution in that book. I love the characters Traviss has created and I want some dang closure!

I'm gonna go pout for a while. See you guys later.

Don't cry. She is making one last Imperial Commando book before she leaves.

Right now I'm about 3/4 of the way through Shatterpoint by Matthew Stover. So far I think it's crap. Seriously, it's probably one of the absolute worst Star Wars books I've read. I find myself really not caring what happens at all. I don't know if it's due to the author's inadequate writing or the character of Mace Windu itself. Either way, I'm having a hard time motivating myself to finish this one....

It's the writing.

Mace can be a cool character....for example the recent Clone Wars Adventures: The Colossus of Destiny digest. Stover tires weird things with his writing and it doesn't really pan out very well. His Revenge of the Sith novel was bizarrely written as well.

I finished it today. I totally agree, it's the writing. There's only a few Star Wars books that I really didn't like. Sadly, this one is going into that column.

Karen Miller starts a new series, Clone Wars Gambit, in February. Could be very interesting.
