How bloody good is this show?!?

I've never read the manga before and am enjoying this new take on the series.

I almost bought it at Wal-Mart last night since my girlfriend has been telling me I need to watch it.

I might wait and Netflix it though.

Brotherhood is beyond awesome. After you get past the first 10 episodes. Since I "grew up" on the original series (never read the manga) and the movie I did not think they did justice with the first 10 episodes compared to the first time around. After that it exceeds my expectations. Roy vs Lust....if you have not seen it its hardcore.

They handled Nina and Tucker well. Same with Hughes but he had more screen time in the original so I felt it more then.

I have parts 1 and 2 on Blu ray and cant wait till December for the 3rd set.

I've been watching the original and loving it, so I'm interested but a bit hesitant about Brotherhood.

The original series came out when the manga was fairly young. Therefore after about 20 episodes the anime caught up with the manga. The series then went off on its own. The new series follow the manga all the way through. I dont want to spoil either series (they are both excellent) but two early semi spoiler differences are:

Spoiler:
The Sowing Life Alchemist Frau Tucker lives past his one episode in the original FMA but dies in the new series. This of course alters the plot later on.

and

Spoiler:
Al can use Alchemy without a circle in the second series. In the original he could not. This makes him much more active in battles as well as influences the plot.

Another difference is

Spoiler:
Fuhrer Bradley is a completely different homunculus in brotherhood than he was in the original if you liked bratty kid wrath you are in for a disappointment...
