I am probably one of the biggest Tomb Raider fans you will meet, and there is a new game coming out. I will always give a Tomb Raider game a shot, but from what I have heard about this game it sounds awful to me, but hey who knows. They are redoing Lara's Origin story, I personally feel she doesn't need a reboot. I personally have not liked a Tomb Raider game (story wise) since Legend. I felt Underworld was very rushed, it seemed like things CD set you up for in Legend they just copped out over in Underworld. Here's the article and the new look of Lara (I don't like the hair)

So lets get this chat going, what are your thoughts on the past games and hope for the new one?

Also, it sounds to me like they are trying to make this a survival horror game and not a adventuring Tomb Raider game.

I just read through the huge GameInformer article about it. Yeah they are defiantly going with the Survival Action genre instead of adventure title. I am not sure I will like that. I prefer classic Lara pistol in hand not killing things with whatever is lying around. it also looks like she has a makeshift bow and arrow set with her... thats not really Lara in my opinion, but we shall see.

One thing they are talking about heavily with this game, and which they said they were going to do with Underworld though it didn't quite happen is the weather changing effect. I like this idea, that the weather would actually change during game play as well as day and night changes depending on how long you are in an area. I they tried to do this with Underworld but it just happen with having a sunny level, a rainy level, and a snowy level. It would be really cool to have this type of interactive environment, I really hope they pull it too.

That would be awesome. I could especially see it being used as something you have to account for. Like say you're in a mountainous snowy region and a snowstorm rolls in. You'd need to account for visibility or risk getting lost. Or a motorbike/car sequence where a rainstorm could possibly move in, affecting driving.

Since this game takes place entirely on an island (least from the previews I've read) I doubt we'll get any snowstorms, but a monsoon or fog would be cool to see.

Yeah I would like more location changes but I really hope they pull this weather thing off I mean its perfect now thats its a survival game.

Realtime and weather changing players' approach during parts of the story could make for some killer replay value.

After a brutal storm destroys the boat she was travelling on, a frightened young woman is left washed ashore on an unknown beach. On her own but not alone she has only one goal, to survive'

UPDATE: The game's official site shows that the game will be released for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It also shows that Lara might be holding a bow.

Sounds more like Green Arrow's origin than Lara Croft's.

Rhona was my favorite too. Then again, I think she's hot in everything she does. I think I have a girl crush on her. lol

The last Tomb Raider game I played was Underworld and the controls just made me angry. I used it as one of the games I turned in to lower how much O owed on MW2.

I completely agree! I LOVED her in Doomsday, she does very well at being a female action hero.

Doomsday was great! Her hair reminded me a lot of the Major's hair from Ghost in the Shell. I was thinking while watching it that if they ever make a live action movie of Ghost in the Shell that she should play the Major. Smile
