I just saw this over at Bloody-Disgusting

A rather sweet rumor has reared it's beautiful head recently. Apparently, Telltale Games (the guys behind Sam & Max, the more recent Back to the Future episodic series as well as the upcoming Jurassic Park game) are hard at work on a video game adaptation of the incredible Walking Dead TV series. If this is true I might just have myself a sensual nerdgasm.

Telltale makes some great adventure games and it's my belief that there can never be too many zombie games so the thought of a game (or possibly, series of games like the Back to the Future series) based on arguably the best undead themed anything in recent memory is rather exciting.

This rumor comes from 1Up, which was invited by the developer to see a handful of projects they have in development. Among the list was a title "based on a just-launched property from the TV and comic book world whose popularity is changing life as some know it." Yeah, I don't watch much TV but I think it's safe to say there aren't too many TV series that fall under that description. Plus, a Walking Dead game is practically destined to kick tons of undead ass.

For those unfamiliar with The Walking Dead, it's a TV series on AMC that centers around a group of people trying to survive in a world filled with zombies and bad people. It's based on a comic book series of the same name so this as of yet unannounced game certainly fits the bill. Start praying to the Gaming Gods people, we want this game to happen.

Cool! I want to get their Back to the Future game. I got to review their Wallace and Gromit and it was awesome.

While I'm hyped about the premise of a Walking Dead video game, I'm worried about how it will end up. I really don't want it to be a shoot em up, but I don't think that they will take the time to add the storylines and plot turns that made the book so great into the game. Hell, I'm not sure how you could add in the plot twists and deep character development in the book translated into a video game. If it doesn't have that, what's from stopping it from just being a mod for Left 4 Dead?

To me, it would have to play like old Resident Evil games to keep all the horror and the sense of being hopelessly outnumbered and fighting for your life in the game.

I'm still keeping an eye on this game, I just hope that it turns out good.

I love zombie games and my favorite was the very first Resident Evil, mainly because it came out when I was 8 and the silence and close quarters scared the crap out of me. Honestly I wish another zombie game would come out with the same silence and close quarters that RE had. I love the shooter zombie games and all, it just seems like all the zombie games that come out now are almost all the same and don't seem scary any more.

But I would still get this game no matter how it is set up. Now whether I keep it or trade it in later will depend on how good the game play is. I usually never get rid of a game once I have bought it unless it sucks really really badly.

Here's hoping they do a great job!

It would be cool to have a moment like the end on Metal Gear Solid 3 when
Spoiler:

That could be a pretty intense battle.
