I looked around the site for a thread for this book but did not find one. Thinking I was not looking hard enough, I did a search and still did not yield anything. Assuming, then, that the internet awoke from it's 10,000 year slumber to mess with me, I sat silently and waited for the internet to stop jerking me about. When the internet went back to asleep (I can sense these things), I looked again, and again I did not find it. Then it dawned upon me. The thread had not been made. I fell out of my chair in horror, screamed "jings!", cried a little, whipped myself for thinking such blasphemy, said a small prayer for the site and my soul and made this thread. Enjoy discussing the title the FSM would approve of. Smile

LOL Just messing you. Yeah, alot of people aren't aware
of this series. It's by Garth Ennis. This explains it better than I could.

LOVE this book. I haven't read past "Name of the Game", but I've got the next two trades after that.

I'm on #15 of this series. The first arc is awesome... but it lost some steam and putzed through issues 6 thru 14.

Also, brits are hard to understand, bunch of tossers, they are...

Not a huge Ennis fan (I know he's brilliant but he's just not my cup of tea), but I'm still very curious about this series.

It's a great book. I review every issue on PoP personally. Look for 29's review later this afternoon. It was a DOOOZY.

I'm a little sad that we're already nearing the halfway mark. It's just so damn good.

Wow, time flies. I remember when issue #1 came out...didn't seem like such a long time ago.

I picked up "The Boys" just for looking for something new to read but i'm really loving it. Some of the stuff is a little oddball but eh still entertaining.

I'm up to date on "The Boys" now. Its pretty decent. Still a little disappointed at the lack of character development.

I bought the first trade soon after it was released, pretty good.

I haven't been following though, but I intend to fall back and catch up.

I can't wait for trade number 4 to come out...I love this title. I actually picked up the first one at a Wizard convention, and fell head over heels in lust for Billy Butcher.

And I do believe that Wee Hughie is supposed to be Scottish, although I'd have to go back and verify that he was a Scot living in London when Butcher tracked him down. I may be squishing facts together.

After hearing many of Lee's praises of 'The Boys' on the popcast, i went out and bought 'The Boys: The Name of The Game' graphic novel and was pleasently horrified by the excessive level of sex, drugs, violence and sadistic bulldogs that featured.

I find it strangly horrific that what looks to be my dream girl (wee hughies girl) gets smushed into paste within two pages

I remember reading just a single issue where Butcher is plowing a woman on a desk while making her stare at a picture of her husband and kids the whole time while she screamed "bastard" at him over and over. So I went back to issue 1 and, damn, its a good series. Also make sure to read Herogasm, there is more to be learned about Capes there.

I Love this series! Makes fun of superheroes, it's well written, and it is no-holds-barred fun.

I just read the latest issue, #33 (well, latest to me anyway)... Now THIS is why I initially liked this series. Just mindless violence. The last few issues I've seen were way too text heavy, but this was good stuff. thumbs up

I've enjoyed Mother's Milk's back story over the last 2 issues and now am looking forward to Frenchie's story which I suspect could be humourous where MM's was pretty serious.
