Anyone have this other than me? Because you should this game is pretty awesome.

It's alittle buggy at launch, but almost all of Bethesda's games are. The changes and tweeks that Obsidian have added made the game that much more fun. Skill magazines are now added for a quick boost to your skills in key situations, a command wheel for directing your various companions that you'll meet and ironsights for almost all the guns for that fresh out of Modern Warfare feel. The additions to the game are small, but add depth to an already deep game.

While I haven't made it to New Vegas yet, the Wasteland is full of new mutated animals and other things that make life in post-apocalyptic America difficult. Nothing like getting your ass handed to you by a mutant butterfly to humble you quick. I haven't even found the two headed, mutant bears yet. That's looking like it's going to be a fun time when it happens.

The factions are more realistic, where no one is really the "good guy", just groups of people that are out for self. It's more real. Rather than the "right" thing and the "wrong" thing to do, there are choices to make that could be the right thing to do at the time, but could have consequences later in the game. I like that part alot. It makes what you do more realistic. If you help a faction in the game, another faction is going to not like you as much and you'll be banned and attacked if you cross the faction out in the Wasteland or if you wander into a territory controlled by them. Worrying about whether or not you'll get shot at on sight. It's little additions like that that make the game for me.

Anyway, it would take too long to go into everything that is in the game. It's a huge undertaking. And in a world where other companies want make gaming a "simpler" experience, I'm glad there are games like this still getting made for me to lose huge chunks of my life playing.

And having a machine gun that shoots hand grenades isn't bad either......

anybody else feel ripped off that the radio stations suck, the non radio soundtrack is the same as FO3, they reuse a lot of the art and posters from FO3, or just the general overall non new feeling of this game?

Apparently, there are more radio stations in the game with more songs. You have to been in the right areas to hear them. There's one in the mountains, if you've gotten that far....

I feel like it's a good thing that it has alot of assets from FO3. It's a continuity thing. It's not "new", it's familiar. They said up front that it wasn't going to be that different. They have added some features and refined alot of FO3's less fun point. The companion wheel is so much better when dealing with people in your party and the Hardcore mode is enough to make it worth getting the game, IMO.

I can see your point, but I also feel like they didn't hide the fact that it was going to be similar to FO3. If you liked FO3, you're going to like FO:NV.

I really wish that the Wayne Newton voiced radio station wasn't so damn repetitive. I swear he says the same shit every few minutes, and there are only about 5 songs.

I am a huge Fallout nerd and this game delivers the Fallouty goodness I was after. The bugs are killing me though. They made companions a much bigger part but didn't seem to make major needed pathfinding improvements. I spend a good portion of my time running around turning to see if my idiot robot is still following me. I would also have liked to see some improvements to the overall triggers for AI conversations. Doing anything outside of a quest line that SHOULD impact various conversations doesn't seem to. "We are stationed here to keep an eye on that town in case the bad guys make a move!" "Actually guys, I just killed everyone in that town" "They better not try anything, we will be ready!" It gets kind of annoying.

True. But I'm assuming that, like FO3, the more you do in the game, that more Wayne will have to comment on. It also seems like there are more radio stations hidden this time around. The Black Mountain Radio station has a few more songs and some pretty awesome Super Mutant commentary.

The bugs are killing me though.

That does suck, but until a developer really spends ALOT of time on advanced AI, we won't see that for a while. I'd like to see a system like the Rockstar games engine where people react pretty realistically to things you do IE pushing NPCs down enough where they will attack you.

Overall, I still love playing it. Hope that patch shows up today, though.

I love this game however something that is pissing me off is that i accidentally in one of the quests killed the cashier at the Ultra-Luxe casino and I had built up quite a collection of chips there that I can not cash in now. It did not recreate someone to cash me out so I am amassing a fortune that I cannot do anything with. but other than that I haven't experience much in the way of bugs in the game.

Fisto gives you 10 caps everytime you turn him down.

There are a ton of glitches. I tried to tell the wife to wait for GotY eddition next year... but noooooooooooo. I'm going to sell it when its beat and get GoY next year. the bugs are unbearable. Like all the casino quests are bugged.

I would have rather waited another year for them to put this out than to get the crap we got. I loved FO3 but this game has been endlessly frustrating and annoying.

Update: I'm on level 19 and I'm about 40 hours in. After playing post-patch, my game doesn't freeze anymore. The framerate slows down to a fucking criminal speed at times. Not often, maybe twice. But both of those times, I was in a shootout and I was mashing the Select button, trying to save before something bad happened. Other than that, my game is going ok.

What I like is that many of the missions have multiple parts and sometime crossover with other missions I'm doing. I'm currently pretty down with the NCR, but a few missions have me wondering if I should have gone it alone. Something tells me that if the clues that I've seen and the things that I'm hearing people say in the game are true, I may have bet on the wrong horse. That said, access to pretty serious guns early in the game are a good reason to help the NCR.

The grenade machine gun is the shit. Save money and buy that. Now.

I just now got attachments for some of my guns. Adding a scope to a lazer rifle is pretty worthless. Adding bigger clips and hollow tipped bullets to a Cowboy Repeater is fucking awesome!

The Great Khans are pussies. The Powder Gangers have a terrible name. The Kings have great outfits. And most of the time, they will try and cut you with a switchblade, even if you have a gun on them. That's commitment.

I'm playing as a good guy, as I normally do the first time through. The game isn't so hung up on the "right" thing to do this time. Maybe because the "right" thing is sometimes pretty awful sometimes.

Adding digging up graves was pretty great. Finding a grave has never been so appealing.

I like that if you don't fuck with the wildlife, they usually won't mess with you. Having the Animal Friend perk is awesome when two headed bears and mutant rams have your back.

That all for now. Just some you know, I'm trying not to spoil anything major. If you want me to stop posting about the game, let me know.

Haven't come across too many 357. Hollow points, but I imagine that they destroy just about everything. I did however buy the extended magazine and custom action upgrades for the C.R, and it's a beast. I also highly recommend the lever action shotgun w/shotgun surgeon perk. Also can't go wrong with the jury rigging perk. It's the only way I can maintain That Gun. P.S That Gun + 5.56 hollow point= =D

I'm making the game interesting by mod'ing a 9mm pistol with an extended clip and hollow tipped bullets. If you find and workbench, there's usually an ammo loading bench close by and you can make hollow tips. Aim for the head with them.

The Caravan Shotgun is the one so far. Try and find one if you can.

You're welcome. You need to be lvl 14 and have a repair skill of 90 to get Jury Rigging. It's totally worth it, you can repair any item with any similar item: rifle/shotgun, semi auto/revolver, metal armor/power armor. Etc. VERY useful perk.

I already had a couple, Iike em, but I prefer the lever action. And oh, yes, hollow tip 9's are super effective.

63 hours in:

Shit just got real. I've been helping the NCR for the sole reason that they seemed like the good guys. I'm starting to get the feeling that maybe I might be stabbing them in the back in favor of a new, cooler faction: The Brotherhood of Steel! That's right, they're back from Fallout 3. Without spoiling anything, let's just say that the NCR and The Brotherhood don't see eye to eye about alot of things and they are going to have a frank discussion about previlent issues. With guns. The Bros also have bigger guns and the famed Power Armor that adds +2 strength and looks pretty bad ass. I hope the NCR guys don't take it personal....

I haven't been to New Vegas in 15 hours. That's how awesome shooting Cesar's Legion and Power Gangers is.

I JUST found a rocket launcher. 60 hours in and I JUST FOUND A ROCKET LAUNCHER!!! I've been finding rockets the whole game, yet nothing to shoot them with. It's been a blast. Get it? Whatever. That was funny.

Invisible Super Mutants can suck it. As a matter or fact, there are alot of invisible enemies in this game. It's not fun in some of the later missions. You can't use V.A.T.S. to target them. You basically have to shoot blind and hope you hit them. It's a pain in the ass.

I have three different shotguns. I use them all. Often.

I have not found a sniper rifle. A sniper rifle with hollow-tipped bullets would really hit the spot right now.

One thing that I don't care for is that there is no need for money. Unless you are bribing people, you really don't need to buy anything. You can just find weapons and supplies on dead people and by looting buildings. I haven't bought anything but Stempacks and the occasional item I need for a mission. If only money was as worthless in real life...

That's all for this update. Trust me. If you find the Power Armor, do yourself a favor and use it.

Oh, jeez. I don't quite know how to break it to you, but Rex kinda sucks as a companion.
He's gotta get into melee range to attack. Speaking of which, he seems to just run off after packs of enemies like a dumbass even if you tell him not to attack until you do. Personally, I think ED-E is a better companion. Plus you can use him like a flying backpack!

Is Cass (Granddaughter of John Cassidy from FO2, BTW) a good companion? I fly solo, with the exception of ED-E of course, and was considering having her join me.
