If that's the new lineup, I have to admit I'm really excited. That's a pretty bitchin' team.

Cheesy name. Cheesy logo. Pretty rad lineup, again assuming that IS the line-up. The article mentions a reborn Cap, after all, and that's Bucky. Then again, I doubt Joe USAToday knows his comics.

wouldn't mind reading that team, i'm glad Beast will be on it since SWORD i hear is getting the boot. I hope they're not reforming Bullseye, he's not really the reformation type imo.

Bitching line-up! Though I would prefer Cap, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Ms Marvel, and MockingBird.

OH SH*T!! Laughing

That one piece of art has me pretty damn giddy. I would LOVE it if Beast returns to the Avengers, been suspecting it for months now. Although, I'm not positive this is the Avengers team because the Thing is there. I just don't think Marvel would put him on the Avengers at this point with all the great stuff Hickman is doing with Fantastic Four.

And man, if Jimmy Cheung is drawing Avengers #1 I'm so effin sold! lol

I just noticed that the article said the creators contributing to The Heroic Age will be Brian Michael Bendis, Ed Brubaker, Jonathan Hickman and John Romita Jr. Man, the idea of Bru taking on an Avengers book sounds awesome...probably the Cap related one. *crosses-fingers*

Also, Clint back as Hawkeye = WIN.

(Whoa, does Clint have a bionic arm or is that just a sleeve on one arm and not the other??) huh

Another thing I noticed, the breakdown of the piece is perfect for a wraparound cover. With the big names like Cap, Thor, Iron Man and Spidey all on the right side, they would be on the cover and the rest would wraparound the back. Interesting...

You gotta love a name like Gorilla-Man. It can't help but make you feel stupid.

"Who's that man that looks like a gorill-- oh, 'Gorilla-Man...' right."

As for Hawkeye, one armored arm was typical for archers back in the day. It's a damn fine character design.

I'd wager two different covers, both priced to own at $3.99.

I'd miss Wolverine and Spider-Woman a lot, but I wouldn't mind if this was the team. However, it seems odd that Mockingbird wouldn't be a member since Bendis went through all the trouble of bringing her back. Also, Luke Cage not being there seems weird since Bendis is such a fan of him.

I'd be thrilled if Beast returned to the Avengers. He had been getting the shaft in the X books as of late, and it'd be nice if he was once again a member of Marvel's premiere team.

Clint back as Hawkeye would be cool, but I really really really like him as Ronin.

As much as I LOVE Brubaker (and it's a lot) I don't know if I'd want him on an Avengers book. His Uncanny X-Men run was mediocre at best. I'm not sure if he's cut out for a team book.

Ha, possibly. And I'd wager the Cap/Thor/Iron Man/Spidey cover would be a slightly hotter commodity. lol

The X-Men are always a tough code to crack for writers, but I thought his work on them was pretty solid overall. An Avengers book on the other hand, possibly featuring Steve Rogers, would be RIGHT up Bru's alley!

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE him as Hawkeye (especially since I'm a huge archery fan), but I like him as Ronin a lot. I like the Ronin costume, and it still allows him to use a bow and arrow. I think since I only really started collecting comics big time about 3 and a half years ago, I don't have quite the attachment to Clint as Hawkeye. I think overall I've read more with him as Ronin than with him as Hawkeye.

Maybe. I just think Brubaker might be better suited for the darker, street level characters or espionage books.

I hear ya. I was just never a big fan of the Ronin look for Clint, probably because it was never his costume to begin with, he just sort of put it on cuz he had no identity when he returned.

Batman25JM wrote:Maybe. I just think Brubaker might be better suited for the darker, street level characters or espionage books.
Yeah he's probably the best in the biz at that right now, but if there's a book featuring Steve Rogers, I'm pretty sure he would bring that same tone over from his Cap books. Maybe even mixing in some things he set up in The Marvels Project! big grin

^I thought Rise and Fall of the Shi'ar Empire was okay, nothing special, but it wasn't horrible. I did like Divided We Stand, but the biggest reason for my enjoyment of that was Mike Choi's art.

Chung's figures are solid as always, but if this is actually supposed to be a cover image, it sucks. Weak gradient background? Weak "pimp my MySpace" lettering? Eeugh. That said, this can't be a cover, really. There's no book called "The Heroic Age." This is just a media teaser.

The reason I say it could possibly be a cover is because of the layout of the characters. Rather than have the big dogs in the middle, they're all off to the right side, making it perfectly set up for a cover. Not saying it is a cover, but it is definitely perfectly set up for one.

And you're kind of missing the point. This particular image itself, with that background and "The Heroic Age" tag, wouldn't be the final cover. The image of the heroes themselves could certainly be used on a cover though. Possibly on a one-shot book kicking off The Heroic Age.

Similar to when Marvel teased us with this:

and it turned out to be this:
