I'd also like to also point out that it was published less than a year after the original Tribute book. hmm

I've never even seen this book. That's from Wizard? Interesting.

I'm sorry to see the WUMB go, but I guess it was time. Oh well. I guess there won't be any WUMBies this year. hmm

I've just spoken to Steven Shamus.

He's told me in light of this information, they will be contacting the Foundation and will be making the right donation.

It looks like things fell through the cracks with staff changes - they have worked with the Foundation before and will again. They're also hoping the foundation will be able to set up at upcoming Wizard Worlds.

A piece will be running on Bleeding Cool shortly.

I remember them publishing a Turner book when he was still alive. I guess it's the same one with more material.

In all seriousness, even if the fault is staff changes, the people running Wizard showed they're non-professionals, letting stuff fall through and projects and promises be forgotten just because someone didn't pay attention or give a crap. I doubt that plans for their cons ever got dumped because some executive was let go or quit. It's just another evidence of Wizard not really caring for its audience.

Exactly. Even after the staff changes there were plenty of people asking about the status of the project and trying to inquire if the donation was made to the charity.

I remember seeing the other book when he was alive. It was similar to the Jim Lee book and other tribute books that Wizard did. I actually have their Spider-Man book which is pretty cool.

Wizard had not done a lot of things well lately and this is no real surprise. I can't say anything about the employees they have now and there are a few Wizard guys who are still there that are from the good ol' days but most of the people who made the magazine what it was are no longer there and I think the magazine has suffered since then. I know I'm not all that interested in the magazine anymore.

As I have found recently, I can only answer questions and solve problems if I read the thread in question. It's possible the right people did not read the right thread.

Rich, if you look many pages back, the situation was discussed here for awhile. From my understanding the story was published and discussed long months ago on WUMB (I wasn't involved with the Conventions forum back at WUMB so I didn't know anything about this story until Foxy brought it up here) and several Wizard employees were aware of the situation, but yet nothing to solve the problem was done. In the same vein, staffers that tried helping customers hurt by Wizard's customer service eventually were fired and no one was left that cared about it, so the help was none to be found. As for the Turner book, although the staffers calling for donation of sketches and promising that profits will be given to charity were gone from Wizard, the book was still in the works and eventually saw publication so I doubt anyone who still worked on it didn't know at least a small part of how the sketches ended in Wizard's possession.

That's good to hear. As long as we see some kind of CONFIRMATION that money from Wizard was donated to the charity fund, then we'll all be happy campers.
