Monthly banner theme

Honestly, I'm not trying to turn this place into the WUMB, but one thing I did really enjoy there was making and participating in the monthly banner themes. Is that something people would like to continue doing?

It was fun for a while, and was discussed here a long time ago, and everyone had decided it was a WUMB thing, and well, this isn't WUMB. I'm still sticking with that. This place will and already does have it's own funtraditions and games. The Werewolf game for instance.

I voted "no". The banners are always more of a hassle than even the avatars because a small group are the only ones to make them. Some say they don't mind, and that's cool of them, but it is still time-consuming for them. People will sometimes use up bandwidth of others' accounts majorly (i.e. Combo Mo. I remember. Oh, and sorry. Heh). They also end up overlapping with selections sometimes, which the avatars were always better with the whole individuality aspect and having others giving the title of whatever the theme may be. I mean, the banners share a theme, but isn't it better to have a person create their own sig by showing their likes, dislikes, and things that just look neat? The banners only filter that. Take that as good or bad.

Plus, not that I care too much, but some like to have the banner with their regular sigs and then it takes up a bunch of room. I'm too modest to say, "Hey, cut that shit out." I have asked for people to stack a couple times, though.

No. I love my burger and havent figured the sig thing out on this site yet.

An idea was brought up about an "award" we can put in signatures...like "Poster of the week" and shit like that.

I def enjoyed the avatars more than banners.

Pros:
It was mostly fun.
It made us work as a community.
People could show off their PS skills.

Cons:
Sometimes the demands became too much and when only one person created the banners, it became an annoying chore.
Again, sometimes it was just the work of one man.
When it was time to pick up the next monthly theme, it didn't always go swell and I don't want to take part in something that may cause a friction.

What if instead we start a thread where people lacking graphic designing skills can ask for other members to help them with creating sigs? I'm sure lots of people will be ready to help with that.

I would love that as I am without skill. I am skill-less.

Knowing stuff is a good skill.

I like the idea of awards, K. That's very cool. And the avatar game was super awesome, much more superior to the banner game. Whoever came up with that is probabaly a genius.

i have made 1 customed one for about 50 members back at aspenboards

they are fun to make but i dont them monthly one - speaking of which ill be updating mine soon XD


but if anyone needs help making their banners just let me know if i can help

yeah i didnt really speak up here or at wumb before about them banners - i sorta left it behind when i left aspenboards but yeah i have a thing for custom sigs :)just ask pete, jester, sexytoaster, jester annnd i think hannibal king - lol i made one for them before back in the day XD

If there's people that want to do monthly banners themes, and there's people willing to make them...then I don't see why not. If you don't want a monthly banner then don't ask for one. Seems simple.

Obviously people can do what they want, but I think it's more of a respect issue to the people who came here by choice. We left the WUMB and don't want this place to become the WUMB and start catering to the people left by the WUMB. I think that's why this poll exsists. Most here at PoP want to make our own traditions and fun threads and doings and the such. That's my take at least.

Those are great banners.

I enjoyed the avatars because I was always excited to see who BlueMaxx would pick for me.

Again, Matt, this isn't about WUMB vs. PoP! And really, if you don't want to be involved, you don't have to.

I see no disrespect in Monthly Banners. I just thought this thread was more to gauge interest.

I was just going by what the conversation was soon after I had joined. Someone had brought it up, (it may have even been you, K.) and everyone said what I had put down. So I relayed that here. I don't care one way or another. Ultimately, I'd like to see it not happen, but I won't be mad if it does.

Duck is a duck? Is that a real phrase? Or am I drunk?

And I'd much rather see the avatar game. It's more fun when everyone comes together as a community and nominates things for people, rather than everyone just gets a banner made themselves.

Like I said yesterday, in case you missed it:

-Echoing what Silent K said...PoP! isn't WUMB. Don't try to make it WUMB. Old habits die hard, but you wouldn't like it if someone came into your house and started rearranging the furniture. Instead let's communicate the GOOD things we ALL liked about WUMB, and if there's a great demand, maybe it'll happen. This board already kicks ass, but if everyone contributes...and listens, it can only get better.

Yeah, no one made me spokesperson, I never claimed that. And everyone was easier to say than the five or so people talking that day in the specific thread. I haven't even been a dick about this issue. I was just talking about what I had remembered, and my personal feelings. I certainly won't care if it happens, it was a fun little game. Ultimately, it's a group descision (or not even, if someone wants ot make a thread and do it, they can.) who cares what I think? That being said, I shouldn't be dogged on for having the opinion I do.
