Young Allies

So, it looks like we're getting yet another team of Marvel's younger heroes with Young Allies. Here's a piece from Wikipedia:

As part of the Heroic Age line-wide reboot, a new team and ongoing series was introduced, written by Sean McKeever, with art by David Baldeon.[4][5] McKeever has said:
“The idea behind 'Young Allies' is that it's literally a group of young allies. It's not so much a team in the conventional sense as it is a group of like-minded people of the same generation. The basic idea for the book is that they're fighting for the soul of their generation. That comes to the fore immediately with the introduction of the Bastards of Evil, who are the unwanted sons and daughters of supervillains of course..”
Members include Nomad, Firestar, Araña, Gravity and Toro

Does this mean that we can get rid of the Nomad backup in the Cap book?

The way I'm now thinking about it, this might be a prelude to the new series considering that McKeever is the writer of the Nomad backup and you have two members of the team in the backup so my thought is that this backup is setting up the new team book. Hopefully once that starts, no more backup. I hope.

Eh, I don't care for the book right now, I'd really rather read Runaways for the Marvel Teen Teams. How is Runaways doing now?

Well, I'd say the backup isn't good and Runaways is currently not being published.

I'd be more pissed if my LCBS had the series for sale but I like them more then the other teen teams in general. On another note who's that doing the picture?

It's fairly bad. The only reason why I read it is because I keep expecting Arana and Nomad to have hot lesbian sex. It has yet to happen, sadly.

I was not a fan of McKeever's Teen Titans so I can't imagine this being all that great. What I want to know is what's going on with the Young Avengers?

So five or six years ago, I thought it would be awesome if there was a marvel super team made up of the illegitimite (however you spell it) children of current heroes. On my Roster was Gambette (she used dice instead of cards) the son of Hawkeye, a son of Green Gobline, and a few others I don't remember.


Obviously they found one of my old notebooks and made the Bastards of whatever they call em.

I don't know how interested I am going to be in this. I am really not a fan of McKeever's stuff.

nope be came back during an arc with the fantastic four with the black panther and storm.

I would think Firestar to be a bit too old to call these others her peers.

I would agree with that. Those other heroes are more where Firsestar was when she was a member of the New Warriors back in the day. Maybe she'll be a mentor and team leader?

If that isn't her role with the team I just dont see it making sense. Almost anything else would seem like a step backwards for the character.

I am sure this book will have some fans but I will not be one of them. This book has three strikes against it for me:

1. It's being written by McKeever
2. Not interested in the characters
3. It's not the YOUNG AVENGERS!

What have you read by McKeever? I've only read his TT run which I think was average but some good stories (The Ravager part of the Terror Titans arc, Titans Tommorrow arc).

I read his TT run and didn't like it at all to be honest which is why I am staying away from this book because it's more or less Marvel's Teen Titans.

THIS. I love my Teen Titans, and being in my 40s, I have fond memories of some aspects of the Silver Age, up to and including the Superfriends. I bought issue after issue where McKeever took huge steaming dumps on the characters I love. Then, the Wendy and Marvin thing happened, and it was like being slapped in the face with something unmentionable.

I'm not going to spend money to watch him do it to one of my favorite characters of all time, Firestar.
