After 21 years of singing songs with lyrics that talk about drugs, and crime among other things, the band has come out and admitted that they are Evangelical Christians and have been all along. The idea apparently is to bait their fans into listening to their music and then tell them that God is the way to go.

Band member Violent J (Joseph Bruce) said, “You have to speak their language. You have to interest them, gain their trust, talk to them and show you’re one of them. You’re a person from the street and you speak of your experiences. Then at the end you can tell them: God has helped me.”

Love them or hate them, now you know Insane Clown Posse follows the word of God.

Evangelical Christians are some the worst types of Christians.

Yeah, but that's only because ICP is the worst type of anything.

Not to get into a thing, but the album and lyrics cited in the article is from an album released in 2003 and it's not like it was a shocker. There's plenty in the lyrics of ICP albums about death and the afterlife. Hell the entire Dark Carnival thing is a metaphor for haven and whatnot. But there's nothing evangelical or Christian about them or their music. In interviews before and after the "reveal," they've pulled the "spiritual" over "religious" card and again, this is no shocker to anyone who's actually listened to a few of their records.

That would involve listening to multiple recordings of ICP, though.

Well... kinda, yeah. Articles like this one are written from a place of ignorance with regards to the material they're covering and that's crap regardless of what you're reporting on.

Yeah, but didn't you once write a piece about Transformers 2 saying it was a good movie? Insane Clown Posse Admits to being Evangelical Christians After 21 Years Rimshot

Does this mean I'll get suggested the Gathering of Juggalos documentary by Netflix after I watch Jesus Camp?
