Ms. Marvel

Okay this latest issue of Ms. Marvel #39 has left me feeling good and fucked.

First off, the art. Holy hell, am I reading an issue of UDON's Street Fighter? Sure for a couple of panels they make Karla look absolutely gorgeous as Ms. Marvel, but it gets all Manga-y after a while to the point Osborn looks like Sagat. That turns me right off.

Second, Brian Reed has done an impeccable job with Carol/Ms. Marvel and Ms. Marvel 38 seemed like a good starting point for the Dark Reign storyline with Karla. But what the fuck is up with the "My Babies" shit? Really, Reed? Really? Karla went from Momma Killing Sociopath to MODOC-hybrid babysitter?

Maybe its just the art that softened me up for this weird as hell new arc but... DAMN. The past Thunderbolts and current Dark Reign books have set up Karla as this smart mouthed, lethal, manipulative piece of work that would sooner ignore you, screw you, kill you, or mindfuck you if it could get her extra fabric softener for her uniforms and here she is playing collector/nanny to a jacked up MODOC-hive mind of test tube babies.

This is tasting of Rodriguez brand "Weaksauce". If Issue 40 doesn't shed some light on this misbehaviour then I will be visiting the Jinxworld forums and calling Shenanigans on Reed.

Ms. Marvel and Spidey on a date = pure awesome. I love how Pete can't shut up when he's fighting crime or hanging out with the team, but when it comes to holding a conversation with Carol on a date he's super awkward.

This issue was a good break between the crazy events of the last arc with Moonstone and the next arc with Mystique.

Man I need to catch up on my Ms. Marvel I'm behind at least 2 weeks worth of books save for Dark Avengers 11.

I thought this issue was cute and funny. We need more Spidey and Ms. Marvel. I never realized Spidey loved "the thickness".

Yeah I would love to see Pete and Carol attempt to date for a lil while...keyword attempt lol. I mean, if we're gonna have a single Peter Parker, might as well make use of it right?

I actually quite liked the art by Sana Takeda, had a different anime-ish style to it that was kinda cool. But agreed about the baby MODOCs part, all of that got a little convoluted.

#49 was good. I'm liking this story of Carol vs her old nemesis Mystique. Not sure what the heck is up with "Mar-Vell". Sucks to see this book end with #50...

I think she's going to die, but that's just me...

Ms. Marvel #50 (FINALE)

Well it was a good run, this final issue was just okay though. I liked the idea of Mystique using a leftover Mar-Vell Skrull against Carol but their big showdown wasn't all it was cracked up to be. But I really liked the the lil convo between Carol and Spidey. Their chemistry has been great lately...maybe Pete will get lucky .

The most intriguing part of this issue was probably the Noh-Varr back up. Great to see him in action as The Protector (although I wish he just called himself the new Captain Marvel).

This has been a solid, sometimes great series. Too bad it had to end but I'm guessing Ms. Marvel will get a relaunch sometime soon...
