I think we'll be getting big news on this soon, so figured I'd make a thread.

This is the final chapter in the X-trilogy of Messiah CompleX and Messiah War.

Written by CHRISTOPHER YOST & CRAIG KYLE
Pencils & Variant Cover by DAVID FINCH

MANY WILL BE WOUNDED. SEVERAL WILL DIE.
The climax of four years of X-Men stories is the X-Event of 2010! What started in HOUSE OF M with the Decimation of mutantkind and erupted with the first new mutant birth in MESSIAH COMPLEX finishes here. In the epic crossover SECOND COMING, Cyclops’ faith pays off when Cable returns to the present with Hope, the girl he believes to be the mutant messiah. But will she be the savior or destroyer of mutantkind? We may never know, as she is the target of an initiative for mutant eradication unlike anything they X-Men have ever experienced. Many will be wounded. Several will die. Is Hope worth it?

Sweet! I'm looking forward to this. I think the Cable title has picked up in the last few issues, too.

I'm probably going to sit this one out, check it out through other means and if it's good, get the trade paperback eventually.

I wonder what the "one" will lead. Man I hate blind multiple choice tests.

I'm so mad they are having yet another cross over. It's gotten ridiculous.

Over the past couple years they've had...

Messiah CompleX
Messiah War
Original Sin
Utopia
Necrosha

I'll read it because I want to know what's going on, but I'm not happy.

But shouldn't the X-titles all interact with each other quite a bit? Or do you prefer them to be all self contained?

I have no problem with the characters interacting. What I have a problem with is the actual books crossing over. It just means I have to spend more money. I don't like that. It's fine if they do it once in a while, and for smaller arcs, but these bigger things annoy me. Plus, they keep the individual titles from being able to tell their own stories.

I am passing on this crossover. Might flip through a few issues but I'm not buying it. It's like 22 issues all together including the I think it's 14 parts of main story.

If it's good, I'll get the trade for cheap... maybe.

Keeping up on the boards is good enough for me, really.

Yeah but crossovers in the X-verse have traditionally worked like that since forever, they're usually inter-title crossovers. I don't really mind it, although I do prefer most crossovers to be in a separate mini, I just think its neat and clear cut that way. But some of these X-overs make more sense as inter-title crossovers.

And I'd also add that Original Sin was hardly a big crossover. It was minor at best.

^Original Sin was like seven issues long. It might not have been huge, but it was a crossover.

The crossovers may have worked like that for a long time, but they've pushed up the amount of crossovers lately. One major one ever two or three years would be fine, but then let up on the smaller ones.

I don't buy all the titles that are crossing over so it means spending money I don't want to to get the whole story.

Yeah Original Sin was 7 issues, but it was still a pretty small story about Daken. Nothing major.

I do get your gripe about buying titles you normally wouldn't though. But the way I see it is, if you want to read the story then what's the problem with getting all the chapters of the story? Its not as if their inconsequential tie-ins, they're a part of the main story.

^I hear ya. This X-over just seems huge though cuz its capping off the whole Messiah story. I'm looking forward to it so I don't mind shelling out the dough. But the comic budget is getting tight for me too so I definitely see where you're coming from.

The X-Titles have always been an interwoven masterpiece of stories throughout time. We have gotten many great stories from it. It makes sense for all the mutant books to tie together and have an impact on everything. I call BS when there is a Fall of the Hulks X-men. I don't like reading hulk, but I'll buy the mini because it is an X-story. I buy all the X-books that are 616 continuity driven anyway. That usually means 10-15 books a month for me.

I think the editors do a good job of keeping things woven together and it started to fall apart when they have stories going on in books at different points in continuity. Like Uncanny, Astonishing, Legacy. They are much better when everything is on the same page. I think back to the great events like Executioner's Song, Inferno, Phalanx Covenent, and I am glad there there are enough titles to carry out bigger stories. At least they are not like batman and every character is the same. (sorry had to get a jab at batman in there)

I think Second coming is going to be the final pay-off for what we have been reading and waiting for for 7 years. I hope it leads into tying up loose ends from M day, but I really just want to see what is the deal with hope. Cable has sucked. i've hated him as a character for 15+ years so I don't care if he dies, but I want to know Hope's Story now.

I think part of the problem with the multi book story arcs is the lack of substance in the books. If you go back, even 10 years (thinking of the Onslaught books) there were more pages and more things happening. It seemed like every book was its own story taking place inside a bigger story. For some reason the latest books are not complete stories and leave you hanging for the next book. I know the old books had a cliff hanger but it followed some sort of story in the book that helped build the bigger cross over.....

The 2nd cover to Deadpool & Cable #25 (Cable #25) I'm glad it doesn't tie in directly and just tells how Cable got Hope. Cable might die, maybe.

New Teaser Image, speculate away, who eats it during Second Coming?

Magento is the obvious choice, although he'd just go to Europe again and heal up yet again, I don't recall Emma Frost ever dying so I guess it's her turn to take the hit for the team.

Emma "died" when the Blue and Gold team split happened in the early 90's. Jean died, but didn't, because her psyche was in Emma. So Emma was dead, but she wasn't, she was just comatose. Then her psyche was in Bobby.

I honestly think it'll be Cable. His book's ending. Marvel hasn't known what to do with him in a LONG time, and his death would be emotional without really affecting anything.

I hope I'm wrong. I love Cable. But if I was in vegas with a Benjamin, I'd put it on Nathan croaking.

^^^ See, I made the assumption that it was going to be one of the three in the original teaser they put out last week with Scott, Emma, and Mags saying "One will Lead..." but Cable makes sense if it isn't one of those three, he's been wandering fairly aimlessly through the MU for quite a while and while I've liked his role as Hope's protector it's gotten tired after a year plus treading water.

And, presumably, Hope will be her own character going forward.

1) I think Magneto's going to rest the reigns from Cyclops. I hope not, but I've got a bad feeling.

2) I think Cable's going to take on the Phoenix entity and sacrifice himself. I hope not, but I've got a bad feeling.

3) I wouldn't be surprised if Claremont returns in some capacity. I hope not, but I've got a bad feeling.
