CB Cebulski's Twitter feed yet again brings news and teases..

" Warner Bros' Prez Jeff Robinov to Restructure DC Comics?:

DC news

(I hear more news on this will be breaking very soon!) "

" Wow, if what I'm hearing is true, this just became another week of big changes for the comic industry! News supposed to hitting shortly... "

Hmmm....

CB's Twitter. He's a good person to follow. Lots of industry tidbits.

This little tidbit was what I found most interesting:
But in charge and reporting directly to Robinov will be Nelson, the brilliant marketer who beginning in 2000 oversaw the management of the Harry Potter franchise across all platforms and represented the studio's interests with author JK Rowling. The plan is to have her do the same with DC Comics biz.(Kudos to the website BleedingCool.com, which on August 25th first tipped that Nelson might "take on more new projects at the media empire -- including DC Comics".)

DC could certainly use better marketing.

This may not be an answer to the Disney/Marvel deal and in development for two years, but it's definitely in response to Marvel Entertainment growing power over the last couple of years.

Taking movies away from producers that didn't really do anything with and only distanced the productions from good creators (I'm talking about you, Joel Silver) is a good move that should've been done a long time ago.

Levitz is getting the shaft. That sucks. He's a good guy. I met him at NYCC this past year. He was walking around the DC both. We started talking for a good 30 minutes. Cool of him to take some time out to chat a little.

Who knows, maybe he likes the transition. I'm sure it means less stress for him.

Could be true. He can get back to writing which is something he was good at and enjoyed doing. It just seem like a very cold and corporate way of saying he's been demoted.

I guess they want to inject new blood and think Levitz will only hold them back. He's been part of DC for 3-4 decades now and pretty much continued the direction of former President Janet Kahn, who's been in the job for over two decades.

I like this. I'm sure Levitz will be compensated very well under his title of "consultant" and he can get back to writing comics, so it doesn't sound like too bad of a deal for him.

It's great the WB is looking to make DC a powerhouse brand and I think it's actually a wise decision on their part to remove Levitz. He's a nice guy, but he's been there far too long and sometimes I think the company as a whole got too comfortable being second place. It was past time for new blood and new ideas.

I like this. It's really about time they did something like this since WB and DC have been pretty close since the first Superman Movie. It'll be great to see some of characters on the big screen, if they can make a movie that's like the Wonder Woman and Green Lantern DVD's, look out Marvel! I know they got LOBO in the works, it'll be nice to counter Marvel's Deadpool. I would really like to see a reboot to Supergirl.

I read somewhere that it seems DC needs Marvel to try something to reciprocate and go upward and onward.

That helps to feed the perception that Marvel is the superior brand.

That may be the perception that a lot of comic readers have, but to a lay person they will still recognize Superman or Batman before Wolverine or Iron Man.

Perhaps, but just because it's a perception doesn't make it a reality. Personally, I think maintaining a status quo of good writing is better than constantly trying to up the ante because at some point, you'll have no where to go but down.

I agree with you but to those who don't read comics they tend to believe that Marvel is so much superior

I'd rather tell it to the fans who enforce the editors' perception.
