Any Tom Waits fans here? My favorite song would have to be "Alice". What's your favorite songs?

LOVE Tom Waits. Like Dylan, his sound has evolved over the years. Unlike Dylan, however, I need to be in a specific mood to listen to him.

"Jockey Full of Bourbon" and "Hoist That Rag" are my favorite of his songs.

Big Tom Waits fan. Some more recent stuff I dig would be "hoist that rag", "day after tomorrow", "filipino box spring hog". anything, really.

There's an "Early Years Vol I & II" that is excellent. Very young, not-so-whiskey-and-cigarette-soaked Tom stuff like "ol' 55", "had me a girl", "rocking chair", that's more straightforward piano ballad stuff, but lyrically still very waits-ish. highly recommend. I found the discs at best buy a few years ago.

The guitar solo in the middle of "Hoist That Rag" is one of my favorite bits of guitar music ever.

I love Tom's early, pre-gravelly stuff too. "San Diego Seranade" and "Warm Beer, Cold Women" are my favorites from that era.
