oh my fucking God... I love all those bands with the exception of n.i.n.

And yes rage DEFINITELY counts.

marilyn manson, nine inch nails, tool. goon moon, a perfect circle, PIG, skold, queens of the stone age, the cure, the smashing pumpkins, danzig, the misfits, the beatles/john lennon, nirvana, alice in chains, (older) rammstein, rage against the machine, stabbing westward, the doors, david bowie, bauhaus, pink floyd, radiohead, deftones, korn, slayer, [older] cradle of filth, DEATH, nevermore, 1349, dimmu borgir, the kovenant, moonspell, type o negative, rob/white zombie, muse, joy division, mortiis, placebo, interpol...

i'm sure i can add more, but that's enough.

I could make a list, but I don't feel like it. I will say this, though. Probably the greatest straight up rock n' roll band around nowadays is The Detroit Cobras. What they do is find old, obscure R&B, Motown and rock n' roll songs and reimagine them as kick ass garage rock. Pick up their album, Baby, and you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.
