Couldn't quite decide to whether put this in the General Comics forum or here. This makes more sense, being that he covers a wide range of literature and started out writing a short-story in a magazine called Imagine Magazine with "Featherquest".

Personally, can't get enough of this his writing. I just eat it up. Sandman is easily one of my favorite graphic novels, American Gods is possibly my favorite book of all time, and "Sunbird" is one of the most memorable short-stories for me.

"Babycakes" - The allegory is very unsubtle, but it is nice and creepy, and well told. Shitty pixelation, only 3 minutes though.

20 Years of Sandman: Kidd talks with Gaiman. [1 hr. & 25 min.]

So, let's talk Neil Gaiman. Books, comics, movies, other...whatcha got?

Will craft a more thoughtful & "full" response to this at a later point, but will just say, I love Neil Gaiman. Absolute genius.

I recently finished reading American Gods and really enjoyed it. Personally I don't think it's his best work, as I am a huge fan of his Sandman series. I don't think he'll ever top that.

^ Well, Sandman's quantity of quality makes it difficult to beat. Hope Neil gets his hands into at least one more graphic novel ongoing.

You should. Smile It's very hard not to appreciate.

I have loved Neil since I was thirteen years old. I don't know what else to say. He's my favorite.

Okay so I'm thinking of picking up some of his other novels. Any of them that anyone liked better or worse than his others?

Neverwhere has caught my eye on several occasions...

^ Stardust, the fairytale for adults. Most of the book covers seem girly, but the story is just so good.

Oh, and you cannot go wrong with Neverwhere, TStrike. Fragile Things is a really diverse set of short stories that you'll dig. The last one is an extension of American Gods. Taking place a year or so afterwards.

He came to Winnipeg and read a few excepts from his book, though I can't remember which one... I did get an autographed copy of Stardust though!

Smoke and Mirrors was the other book I read on vacation. Fragile things was the stronger of the 2 books. There were not many duds (1-2 didnt do it for me. And I couldnt get into the poems though I don't consider them duds)between the 2 books but Fragile things was better.

I'll edit with more selections/titles later but some stand outs between the 2 books were:
-his Sherlock Holmes story
-his poem about being in a fairy tail
-Pest Control
-Feeders

His style in many of his storys remind me of Clive Barker. Some of the raw language and situations combined with the fantasy and horror.

Been thinking of getting American Gods for my birthday coming up. I really liked Marvel 1602 for a cool elseworlds story and I liked the Coraline movie.
