So over the last year or so I've burned through at least a dozen different mecha series.

now I know I'm not the only one around here who digs giant robots and power armor around here, so I figured I'd start a thread.

So come on in, and discuss your favorite series.

Got any recommendations? Any mecha newbies need a good starting point? Then this is the thread for you.

Over the last year or so, I've watched pretty much every Gundam series except for Turn A, Victory, 0080, and all the SD stuff.

Lately I've been getting more and more into the super robot genre. I've watched Gurren Lagann about three times now, and I appreciate it even more after seeing some of the series it borrows from, like GaoGaiGar and Shin Getter Robo. I also recently finished GunXSword.

Not a super robot show, but I'm gonna start Full Metal Panic as soon as I'm done with what I'm currently watching. I've also been meaning to check out Linebarrels of Iron, as IIRC, the mechs are very Zone of the Enders-esque, which is a good thing.

Robotech can go to hell. Macross is alright, though.

While an enraged-Shinji-piloted Unit one would indeed own a large number of mobile suits, there are an equal number of gundams that are just made of hax. Prime example: Turn-A Gundam.

I love Robotech and I love Macross. I love what Robotech did with combining 3 series seperate and I think the 3 series it was based on are also awesome. So I would have to say favorite mecha:
From Macross-Valkyres

Southern Cross-The Hover Tanks

Mospeada-The Bikes

Also, Vehicle force Voltron was kind of cool

Well, okay. So maybe not the greatest of all time but I think he's pretty cool. I mean how can you deny the coolness of a robot with cactus gauntlets, a metal sombrero AND a handlebar mustache?!?!

Also I liked Giant Robo. Anyone seen that? Smile

Ah G-Gundam - You were Japan's way of showing the rest of the world just how little you know about it. That said, it's one of the most fun series I've ever watched.

Also, I'm fairly certain Gundam Maxter is the coolest Gundam ever. I mean, come on, it's a football playing, surfing, boxing cowboy.
