Fred Phelps & His Crazies Head to SDCC.

"I'll do the Internet a favor and refrain from linking to Fred Phelps' official Westboro Baptist Church site, but here's his church's case for making the trek to SDCC:

'Are you kidding?! If these people would spend even some of the energy that they spend on these comic books, reading the Bible, well no high hopes here. They have turned comic book characters into idols, and worship them they do! Isaiah 2:8 Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made: 9 And the mean man boweth down, and the great man humbleth himself: therefore forgive them not. It is time to put away the silly vanities and turn to God like you mean it. The destruction of this nation is imminent - so start calling on Batman and Superman now, see if they can pull you from the mess that you have created with all your silly idolatry.'

As a former Kansan, I hesitated to bring any attention to a group I've had the displeasure of dealing with up close on a number of occasions. Fortunately, having been to Comic-Con, I rest easy knowing that the handful of people who might actually notice Phelps and co's picketing among hundreds of cosplayers shouldn't have any trouble shaking their heads and moving on. Did I mention his next stop is a Justin Bieber concert in Kansas City?"

I personally find this HILARIOUS! I hope at least one person cosplays as him.

And with that, I propose a Church of Batman.

He also time-travelled to save us from Anti-Life...sort of, I guess. Still fuzzy on that last one. Open to interpretation. Meaning, let's start a war over it.

Yea, I was bored. Thoughts on Phelps' "crusade"? Any new churches? I know for certain GL fans are dying to let it out.

Man, if there's a gay soldier at SDCC, Phelps's head may just explode.

I have to laugh...this is what makes us sane folks who believe in God look ridiculous.

^ You think Phelps would notice the most obvious hypocrisy of condemning fellow Christians, but no. It's the "wrong" Christianity to him.
