It looks as if the Wildstorm brand is going bye bye. I am curious as to what this means to the future of the characters, will they be intergrated into the regular DCU?

Looks like some of the titles will be published under the DC banner. I think it will be on one of the other 52 earth's. Unless they make up a story where the join the DCU on Earth-1

Yeah, they will all be integrated into DCU.

Sort of surreal if you have a moment if Grifter joins the JLA...or something like that.

Is that inside knowledge because none of these stories necessarily indicate that?

Interesting question. Astro City only works in it's own universe.

Kurt doesn't know where Astro City's going yet. I assume it'll go to Vertigo.

I wouldn't consider it inside knowledge.

It's the only way to go. Basically, it's what DC did to Charleton (sp) characters. And since Jim Lee is wearing boss pants...I don't think he'd let these characters go to skwander.

*The WildStorm characters themselves, including fan favorites like Midnighter and Grifter, are taking a "break" until they can be brought back under the DC banner. The co-publishers indicated they and Geoff Johns had "a lot of exciting plans" for the characters when they come back as part of DC.*

Okay, maybe it was insider knowledge for a second.

That sentence read with the rest of the story/press release indicates they'll be part of DC comics not necessarily part of the DC Universe. I don't believe they've gone as far as to confirm that yet.

I actually think this group of characters would be better left in their own universe as one of the 52 which, of course, doesn't preclude interaction with the DC Universe but still makes them separate and different.

Do you think it's all that unfathomable for them to put characters like Grifter, and such in the DCU?

Not saying it is or isn't. Would they bring the character in with or without its history? Does it come in new and fresh (but still the same basic character)? Answering these questions may determine whether the characters are completely integrated into the DCU or are left on their own on one of the 52 Earths or, alternatively, are published by DC but not part of the DCU at all. Doesn't seem like they're even thinking that far ahead yet.

I think they HAVE to think that far ahead at this point. You have so much marketing to deal with.

AFAIK, Wildstorm's limped along since the initial creators on titles like WildCats, Authority, Planetary, and Gen13 moved on to other projects and this acts as more of a mercy killing. One can only hope inevitably the concepts that worked can be brought back and made to work well again.
