Shazam! #1

I thought it was pretty cool to see Lady Blaze pop up. We haven't seen her since she took over Hell, so I'm glad to see that plotline picked up.

Fun, but nothing groundbreaking here. The issue pretty serves to setup some upcoming storylines for the Marvel family and Osiris.

While it was good to see the Marvel Family in action (sort of), I kind of felt like this was just done to appease the hordes of angry Captain Marvel fans that hover around the DC Boards. It didn't answer any questions, it didn't -truly- set anything up for the Marvel Family other than Osiris, and didn't tell us jack about what went down between Freddy and Shazam when they finally met up.

I hope this is going somewhere, but the Earth-0 Marvel Family has gotten truly and harshly jerked around lately, and frankly I'm getting sick of it.

Well, it set up the fact that Lady Blaze will be an ongoing villain for the Marvel's and that all future goals for Freddy will be centered around restoring the family's power. Now, if and when they pick up on that, who knows.

Can you believe this sold out before I could get a claw on it?!?

Did Freddy and the Wizard finally have that confrontation? Or is that gonna come up in Titans?

NO. Apparently, the confrontation has either already happened and we never saw it and Shazam was cool with Freddy having the power, or Shazam just gave up trying to track down Freddy and 'deal with him and his power from imposters' (I think that was line in JSA).

Either way, the entire issue was less-than-satisfying if you're a Marvel Family fan and have been waiting for DC to pull its editorial head out of its ass and restore them.

I'm like the one dude that liked the Trials of Shazam. I thought it was a nice way to try and streamline the Marvel Family down to one unique guy.

Mary Marvel really bugs me right now. I miss her old character.

I liked it too. I thought some of the ways they modernized the gods were cool

I don't know much about the Marvel Family, but I've liked everything I've seen of them. Can you guys recommend any good (relatively modern) stories for me to check out?

Yes he did.

I'll definitely have to check out Trials of Shazam then. I love me some Winick.

For new stuff, there's a ton if you want Black Adam too.
