Avengers Academy

Highly enjoyed #3. McKone is doing the best work of his career at the moment, IMO. The scene with Valkyrie was great, as was Ghost's rant. But for me, the best bit was Reptyl going fanboy on Juggernaut.

I REALLY liked this issue. I'd say it was my favorite issue so far.

The art was great.

I too loved the scene with Valkyrie, and Ghost's rant was great. The bit with Reptil and Juggernaut was awesome as well.

Highly enjoyed #4. I dug the spotlight on Mettle.

I really really enjoyed this. I'm loving this book more and more with each issue.

I'm really liking Mettle.

This really has a Teen Titans feel to it, and I'm liking that.

I greatly enjoyed the spotlight on Striker in #5.

This was great.

Steve schooling the kids was great. It was my favorite part of the book.

I'm really liking Striker. I think he has the highest risk level for becoming a villain. I hope he doesn't. Honestly, I don't want any of the kids to become one.

#6 is a good Reptil-centric issue. Loved Jessica's appearance, Hank's exchange with Clint, and Reptil trying to set up Hazmat & Mettle. There are so many great character moments in this series.

Another great issue. I really liked the spotlight on Reptil. I love how he attained his dream, but it's not what he thought it would be.

I'm very interested to see how the narrative goes for next issue now that we've had issues narrated by all six kids.

I think Gage said in an interview that the next issues would be narrated by the faculty, starting with Hank next issue when he goes back to being Giant-Man.

the thing is I do not see how Reptyle is "most likely" to be come a villian like the rest of the team, he seems to have his head screwed on the most

Is he permanently going back to being Giant-Man? I really like him as Wasp and I want him to stay that way for a while.

Apparently. The Ant-Man & Wasp mini is being touted as Hank's last outing as Wasp. I think that Gage has a point about Giant-Man being his most iconic persona, in that alternate reality appearances he's most usually seen as GM.

I dug #7 a lot. Interesting twist regarding William Nelson, too.

Avengers Academy #7


Loved it. This book is awesome.

I wasn't too happy when it was revealed that Pym would be abandoning his Wasp identity because I liked it, but going back to being Giant-Man makes sense, and I like the updated costume.

I would love it if they did what they are doing in the Avengers cartoon and had Pym be both Ant-Man and Giant-Man with him switching between the two as needed.

#8 was well done as usual. As far as I know, this is the first time McKone has had a full issue inked by Rebecca Buchman, and it's quite possibly the best his art has looked, IMO. Gage excels at character work like always. I'm psyched about him writing Taskmaster again next issue.

One minor possible gripe, though. Is it me, or is the pic of Reptil on the "Previously" page look like it's channeling that werewolf kid from Twilight?

I like how this issue really hammered home what kind of ignorant, self-absorbed and thoughtless douches 75% of the cast are. Just like regular teenagers.

Next issue they're going to swing by a comic shop and ask the clerk if they've got that one comic, with that one guy, from that thing.

They're evil.

Awesome as usual. I love this book so much. It gets better each issue!

McKone delivered one hell of a fight between Finesse & Taskmaster for his swan song in #9. Also, the interaction between Quicksilver & Tigra was priceless.

The thing is, Chris Gage is local and stops into my store a lot. He's such a fan of comics, and that's what makes his stuff resonate so well.
I loved this issue as well.
