I hope so!

Man, I echo everyone's sentiments here in saying Robinson being nominated for Cry For Justice is a joke. It was ordinary. And as for Robinson's comments, this doesn't mean I hate you, it means I dislike your work.

I'd love to know the thought processes that went into nominating Cry For Justice. Did the judges actually read it? Was it nominated because we were all told it was good and not because it was actually good? Like I often said, the thing was all style no substance.

^ Unwritten should most definitely win Best New Series. As for self-contained story within in a story, Unwritten should win that as well, despite my puzzlement over House of Mystery, of all things, not getting its own. That is filled with original stories within stories, while Unwritten is basing itself off of classic tales. Not to belittle Carey, but Willingham's/Sturges' storytelling in that is wonderful.

Bigtymin504 wrote:Solid nominees all around...but James Robinson nominated for best writer of 2009?? Baffling. hmm
The best thing I read from James Robinson was a Superman issue where Krypto fights....I think it was Atlas. One of the best issues I read in a long time.

Tomer Soiker wrote:With Robinson's nomination, the Eisners just lost any credibility.
Yeah. I gotta agree. For the most part, his stuff was pretty lackluster.

agreed
Feel bad for Robinson. The guy is possibly filled with anxiety after writing an "epic." And with DC giving him Hell, hurting his writing too...I just hope he gets things together and DC gives him some room and comfortable chair to sit in.

Tomer Soiker wrote:The best thing I read from Robinson was JSA: Golden Age, although it's a bit overrated. I have yet to read his Starman but according to everyone who read it was a great series.
Golden Age is my favorite Elseworlds. Starman is a must, and is why a lot of us are so bleh about his writings now. But, look above.

People seem to like the Superman stuff, though a complaint, mine included, is that it is taking way too long. It moves at a snail's pace and seems to be much ado about nothing. It should be a big deal but it is easy to forget that. Personally, I think the whole series is being mis-mangaged and focusing on a number of unimportant things.

The JLA thus far has been, well, JLA. It's hard to care for the title and Bagely's art makes it even harder to do so (I used to love his art too).
Thanks. I've been a bit weary of the New Krypton stuff, but if I'm correct Robinson did an storyarc pre-NK, so I'll check that out. Eventually I'll probably check out NK, but as you said, it seems to be taking its time, dragging the story along, although there are some great creators on the titles. I'll wait until it's all said in done before I dive into any of it.

Yeah, JLA has editorially been all over the place. Even tho I don't like having Geoff Johns on a bajillion books, I think him taking over JLA (preferably w/Tony Harris) is the obvious choice DC should make.

Loving your Alan Moore-Wizard sig BTW!

No problem and thanks. Wink

Dr. Wade Fucking McNasty wrote:I don't know if he was COO at the time a lot of people are saying that Eddie Berganza (some editor--excutive editor or something like that) was the one who pushed for the city destruction-fest. But yeah, I don't see Johns doing something like that. Robinson has a good track record but one wonders if this was him trying to deflect some blame. We'll never truly know but I agree with Tomer that Robinson should not win for Cry for Justice.

Win? I'm dumbfounded at how he got nominated. He's come down with a serious case of Loeb-flu. Thankfully the disease doesn't appear to have gone airborne...yet. unsure

Laughing I meant nomination but I wrote down win. Where was my brain? Yeah, he should not have been nominated for this.

I have to wonder how much DC management has been involved in his Cry for Justice? This reminds me of Dwayne McDuffie and his problems with DC.

Also, it's a crime that Marko Djurdevic wasn't nominated for Best Cover Artist.

Yeah the "Best Cover Artist" list definitely has some very strong nominations but Djurdevic does the best cover work in the biz right now IMO.

I find it odd that Do Androids Dream... was nominated for Best New Series but NOT Best Adaptation. I wonder what the criteria is. I mean, I guess technically since it contains all the prose from the original a case COULD be made for it not being an adaptation, but I don't buy it.
