Well, I didn't pick her because she was in Whedon productions, but because she's a genuinely funny person with great comedic timing. And the fact that she's a geek doesn't hurt, either.

The Guild isn't anything to do with Whedon. If you are a gamer at all, or know people that are gamers, that series is funny as hell.

But yeah she was in Dr. Horrible, and she was one of the potential Slayers in the last season of Buffy.

Never got into either. Watched a few episodes of Buffy, didn't really light me on fire, and never tried Firefly.

I'm not a fan of Felicia Day's The Guild but I never really watched it. It seems to be a huge Internet hit and was recently adapted into a comic book in Day's debut as a comic book writer. The industry seems to be astonished, even our own Ben: http://panelsonpages.com/?p=20880

Sure, she was in Whedon's creations (supporting role in the last season of BtVS, guest appearances in Dollhouse and the female lead in Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog) and these were her biggest mainstream acting roles, so basically the rest of her popularity as all due to her own. She just seems to be a better female geek celebrity than Rosario Dawson (although not as famous, as of today).
