I'm sure you guys can help me, I've recently made the jump to Blu-Ray and must say it's pretty bonerrific. I'm looking for some suggestions for movies to add to the collection(Best Video and Audio). I've already got some of the must-haves(AVATAR, TRANSFORMERS 1&2)and so forth. But what movies can I get that will amaze?

I can list some great movies, but if it's bang for your HD-buck, then...

- Batman Begins
- The Dark Knight
- Watchmen Director's Cut or Ultimate Cut Watchmen: The Complete Story. (Kinda wish I had the D.C., b/c Ultimate doesn't let you skip Black Freighter.)
- Lost (Seasons 1-6)
- Dark City (Been meaning to get this. Friend was playing it and I was so jealous of her for having the HD version.)

Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are awesome even with the changing aspect ratio on Knight, Watchmen is a good call, haven't seen it in HD. If it looks anything like Zodic in it's crispness(I hate grain fields) I'd be all about it. And I'm ebarassed to say I've never seen Dark City, Alex Projas directed that right?

^ Yea, he did. It's possibly my favorite film. You should at least rent it, really worthwhile, even if you aren't into Horro-Fi or SciFi in general. It's also a great "film class" experience with German Expressionism and the use of cinematography as an effect. ...sorry, got nerdy there. Check it out. Wink

And throw in 300 and Sin City, especially if you haven't seen them in high-def. Can't go wrong with District 9 or Inglorious Basterds, either. All four of these are fantastic.

I've found that full CGI films (Wall-E, Kung-Fu Panda, etc.) and green screen heavy movies (300, Alice in Wonderland, Sin City) benefit the most from Blu-Ray. I picked up the Pirates of the Caribbean movies on Blu-Ray and they were well worth it.

I have a stack of movies that I already owned on DVD, but had to get the blu-ray to take advantage of the picture & sound:
Constantine
Fifth Element
Serenity
Silent Hill
Beowulf
The Matrix

My wishlist includes:
Iron Man
both Transformers
Dark Knight
Monsters Inc.
The Incredibles (which isn't on BD yet)
300
Sin City
Watchmen (Ultimate Cut)
Equilibrium

If anyone's looking to upgrade their Warner Brothers DVD's to Blu-Rays, you might want to check this site out:

http://www.dvd2blu.com/

Disney has something similar but they send you an $8.00 coupon toward the DVD you want to upgrade.
