You'll love Shortpacked. It's a fun little story with the entire webcomic in chronological order. http://www.shortpacked.com

Also, Zudacomic.com has 10 new comics each month. Thing is, you have to vote for which one will go on. There are a bunch that are great. My faves are Midnite Owls (my fave), Dual (little boy with a weird friend), High Moon (werewolf western), Imaginary Boys (Dead little girl travels through multiple afterlifes. I think you'd like this one.), and Bayou (which is being collected into trade by DC. My second fave of the site.).

http://www.zudacomics.com/home

Plenty of fun from these two sites.

Here's Bayou. It's best to sign up to leave comments and create a profile to save things. It bookmarks automatically wherever you leave off unlike some sites.

I used to read Dinosaur Comics but after awhile got bored and dropped it. The gimmick is only good for couple of episodes, and if you're not into the writing afterwards it's not fun to read.

I've been thinking over the past few days about eschewing print publication of one of the projects I'm working on and taking it on-line. I haven't read that many on-line comics, aside from Ellis' FREAKANGELS (which updates once a week with 6 pages) and some weekly and daily strips (xkcd, THE DEVIL'S PANTIES). I've been paying a bit of attention to Zuda as well (and am currently in the process of getting 8 pages of another script drawn for them), since they seem to be making a lot of positive waves with their site and strips.

What, if any online comics, do you guys read and why? How do you read them (as part of a newsreader, just visiting the site when the strip is updated, etc.)? Is a horizontal format as opposed to a vertical one important to your reading experience? What do you wish webcomics had or didn't have?

Love me some Zuda. Um...originality is always a plus. Wink But ya, try to avoid redundancies with stories with other winners. We've got a good few vampire and zombie winners. Unless you can make it pretty different, I'm not sure it'd work.
We still haven't had an official superhero comic, which is surprising.
Um...as for format, with Zuda, I think it is a designated size that you have to send to them. Make sure your font in word/thought/narrative bubbles/boxes are a decent, readable text. If anything, make them more than just your average text. Make the style to where it fits the characters, setting, etc. Sounds a bit too much, but people seem to get really technical sometimes. Usually if they like something, they'll care to rip into a little more than something that has just fallen flat on its face.

Word of warning (and not to discourage): Sometimes Zuda will have a month where a weaker title with actually win because that creator(s) has a bigger email chain or some b.s. that's almost like cheating. People will sign up to vote, and then they leave. Not Zudites at all. Now, I can understand family and friends, but to send out what seems like a chain across you campus or neighborhood...just shoddy. That's how Celadore, some other robot title, and Black Cherry Bomb Shells won there months. Just a ridiculous amount of blank avatars posting "Cool," and what have you.
