I've quit smoking for the past 10 days cold turkey. I feel good and I feel focused. I'm 28 and I've been smoking since I was 19. Obviously I've had cravings but I was wondering if anyone else here has quit? If so, how did you do it? Should I get a patch or some nicorette? I've been eating a lot so my D'Angeloesque physique is starting to look like D'an Ackroyd.

Holy shit. D'Angelo thanks you for reminding the world that he exists.

Up Top!

Do you find you're smoking a whole lot more of the devil's lettuce?

Yeah, I usually have a smoke after a session but now I just have another session and hit the fridge.

My friend suggested squeezing a small rubber ball every time I get a craving.

I suggested he go straight to hell.

I started smoking when I was 13, finally kicked the habit about 6 years ago when I was 33. I used a nicotine inhaler. Main motivation not to smoke, where I live cigs were pretty much 6 bucks a pack, 1 pack a day equals 41 bucks a week, that is just way too much money to just smoke away.

Good luck, I hope you are able to beat it like I have. It will take some time, from when I was 13 up untiil i finally was able to quit there were about 6 or 7 attempts. I believe I have finally beaten it. I still get a craving every now and then, but it passes quick. Best to avoid stress or any stress like situations. I understand that is almost impossible to do, but if you can find ways to avoid stress, that will defnitly make the cravings less.

Good luck again and 10 days is nothing to be shy about, be glad you have gone that long and keep in mind that if you try to smoke a cig. that all those days you went without one would automatically become meaningless.

Get a hobby. Something detail oriented, like model building or drawing. One of my friends taught himself how to draw while he was quitting. He's a pretty good sketch artist now. Whenever he wanted to smoke he'd pick up a pencil instead. Oh yeah and lollipops help with the whole oral fixation issue. Congrats on making it ten days! Smile
