The Perfect Movie?

I was thinking about this last week when I saw The Royal Tenebaums at this indie theater that shows uncommon movies and old classics. I think it is an example of "the perfect movie". Other examples include Fellowship of the Ring.

Just wondering if you had any other movies to add to the list. Not your favorite, or "the best", but just something that sticks with you and defines what we can achieve in cinema.

I agree with Star Wars. To me, it's an amazing piece of storytelling. You get great characterization and character growth. You get great characterization and some pretty witty lines. You get action and drama mixed in with just a hint of comedic moments. I think in the end you get just a great epic movie that stands the test of time.

Goodfellas is movie making perfection.

Star Wars would be alright and pretty perfect if every year or so they didn't go back in and 're-master' it with new effects and whatnot. F--k George Lucas.

The Dark Knight.

Rocky. An amazing piece of storytelling. Great characters. Great music. Great interactions. Great movie.

The Abyss is a personal favorite.

Star Wars: A New Hope

Spirited Away

and

Forrest Gump
