hey, i strayed away from buying and reading Spidey after a few issues after the big Mephisto making Peter and MJ not ever been with each other deal. Is there anyone who would be willing to explain to me what's happened since then? I kind of wanna jump back into reading, but I've missed too much I think...

As Lee, who has yet to read said issues, pointed out, the American Son arc starting in 595 and running through 599 (which is not yet out) has been excellent. Pick that up and you should be able to figure out anything you need to know. It's great. What'll happen beyond that? Who knows?

Who cares! Laughing

Seriously after a year of suckiness, it just got good. Bought ASM600 today, liked it and the next three arcs look interesting and will decide whether to drop this book perminately or not.

I loved the recent 605 issue. LOVED IT! Fred Van Lente and Brian Reed were on FIRE on the stories. Nothing is funnier than Parker love woes. The MJ story was great, and as convuluted as how everything got to this point I'm glad its no longer lingering on OMD/BND anymore and MJ is back in the picture.

I had dropped ASM just after the Character Assassination arc at issue #588. Are the new arcs really that good? Did I give up too soon? I'm getting excited that MJ is back in the picture, but I also don't want to hold my breath for anything else just yet.

I recently read the issue with Chameleon taking over Peter's life (#603?) after it made some noise over the web because of certain "romantic" scene, and it was pretty nice. Thinking about getting back on reading it (but still not buying it).

Speaking of which, I keep my promise not to buy any Marvel product until I feel right about it. Sometimes it really hurts me, seeing some interesting collections of old stories. But oaths are oaths.

Well I bought, the red headed stranger arc and the black cat arc. I'm out. This was Marvel's one time to "try to explain" everything, but didn't do anything at all. Seriousl the RHS arc, was suppose to fill in gaps with MJ, but it just focused on Chameleon and "explained" what MJ has been up to in one freaking page. The Black Cat arc, just a chance for the writers to relive their single glory days as Spidey and to get in bed with BC. I'm out, the stories are pointess and now it looks like they are going to ruin Ben Reily's good character as well...

Yes, he is. He killed the Spidey franchise for the duration of the mid-90s.

The new issue came out today and I just skimmed through it. The art was good, IMO, but put it back on the shelf. I gave this BND a try, didn't work for me, leave a bad taste in comic flavored loviness.

Leave it to the ASM team to take the Clone Saga and make it much more worse! Can't wait to hear about what they will do to the crap that is OMD. HA!

The latest issues and the Clone Saga mini seem to be hinting at a return for Ben! I hope he does, the character got the shaft back when, he needs a second shot to prove his coolness to some new fans.

That's the point where it all goes downhill. Since I'm sure you know what went on and how Peter got into the current status-quo, better see what is a good point to get back on the book post-OMD.
